That may be true, but chained shinies are still "worth" something, since not everyone can chain well and not even everyone knows about it (little kids who don't use the internet probably wouldn't). But if the Red Gyarados is available in the storyline, everyone who completes the story will get one (and it wasn't even particularly difficult to catch, so it's unlikely that someone would accidentally kill it), making it even more common than chained shinies. There can be set natures and IV's (think ingame trades) for Pokemon that you can receive, so it's a possibility that that would happen.

You have a point there, though the catch rate for it can definitely go up. That is something not hard to change in the game. If I remember correctly even the Lv. 1 Regigigas in Platinum isn't an easy catch, so they can raise the chances of it in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Mostly everyone will get the Red Gyarados when competeting against it, as not everyone is so into Gyarados, and some don't worry about shinies too much either. There is a chance for set natures and IVs, but the only thing they might set is IVs if any, because a lot of gamers would be highly disappointed in receiving the same natures Gyarados, and it'll definitely not be as valuable as it would be if they set everything like that. Though, we'll see what happens, I do expect it to be there though, as it's a major part of the storyline and continuation fo the game as well.

It has to be there. I remember catching it in Silver. I wouldn't care if it was lvl 30. I have had a nightmare training to beat Fantina on Pt, so I would be used to it. It was an important part of the story line so, why would they get rid of it?

Exactly, why would they get rid of it? It's part of the originals, casted on DPPt, and now it needs to make a comeback. Though, I'd doubt it'll be removed, and most people might not even have to worry about that. Just the main statistics of the Pokémon will change. What I mean by this is, natures, moves, ability, and stat wise as well. All this has increasingly developed throughout the past ten years, and Gyarados couldn't avoid that I would think.

Meh, I don't see them taking out Gyrados just because it's a shiny. It was, if my memory serves correctly, the first shiny in Pokemon; and therefore a doorway to the future games. It introduced something new.

Besides, it's just one shiny. Out of the .... at least four hundred possible shinies in the game, I don't really see it making a difference.

I just see it as becoming a common shiny, personally. Shinies are kind of like bragging rights, so if you can't really brag about having a shiny Gyrados since mostly everyone will have one. =/

Catch rate is the same for each species though. All Regigigas have a catch rate of 3 (which is very small, most hard-to-catch legendaries have a catch rate of 3 or slightly higher), so no matter what the level is, it will be hard to catch. All Gyarados have a catch rate of 45, which is not exactly easy, but it's definitely not hard once you factor in low HP, using the right kind of balls, etc. I don't even know if it'd be possible to change the catch rate for it, and even if it was, I don't think they'd bother. And I think making the Gyarados less valuable would be the point of any changes made =P

No matter the catch rate of Gyarados, I doubt they'd rebound the catcing ability of it. If so, then compaints would arise, and it would stant away from the original counterpart. Nothing much might change in the remake, except a few twists and new features. Red Gyarados, I don't see the reason for not allowing us to catch it, and valuablity of it I don't think bothers the game makers much anyway. It is just like any other Gyarados, same stats everything, except for being a different color. So, I don't think they should put that into account as a factor for us, because it makes the game stand out as having one of the most varied plots and giving those a chance at gaining their very own Shiny.

No less, this doesn't change the fact that removing Gyarados can also lead to a different plot of the game, which would steer away from the point of it being a remake anyway.

i think they replaced it with the pikachu colered pichu event

That is very unlikely, as the Pikachu-Colored Event with the Notch Eared Pichu is only activated after the Shiny Pichu is traded over from DPPt to HGSS. So I don't they'd replace it with that. With that being said the only way it can involve Team Rocket is by being a side quest and not a major plot of the game.

The Red Gyrados was a big part of the plot in/near Mahogany Town. Its basically what gave the Lake of Rage life and Team Rocket's operations in the amine and game was to try to capture it then you get to go battle underneath the market basement. This is something to big, drastic to change and a lot of people use the Red Gyrados after capturing it. In my opinion this is something that doens't need to be change or removed.

Ah, the Red Gyarados near Mahogany Town. I hope you can still catch it, mainly because it was a big part of the Team Rocket plot. Plus, it was pretty fun.

they obviously are going to keep it but they might now make it shiny anymore. the might make it regular gyrados instead of a red one.

I honestly don't see the cause for changing it back to a regular Gyarados than having it as a shiny. Even though it might appear to be more common, it still doesn't change the point that they wouldn't need to revert it back to its regular form. Back in GSC, it was a shiny and I don't think they thought much of it being too common at that time, and neither do I think that'll be the cause now.

It is an original of the older games, and really isn't something that needs to be touched besides what the new generation introduced for it. It doesn't cause any problems for it being a shiny and neither did it create any disturbances in the game. Seeing as how it was still referred to as a Red Gyarados back in DP, I think it'll stay the same. It's important and doesn't really need any change to it. It is something that made Gold and Silver what is it known for, and definitely something that made people remember it for.

Well... The way I think of it... If the Gyrados wasn't red, then what would be Team Rocket's motive for it? It's just a regular old Gyrados, that way, which there are plenty of. The fact that it was shiny gave them - Team Rocket - a motive.

remember it was a regular gyrados until team rocket got a hold of it. so it really isnt concidered shiny because it was regular until team rocket got a hold of it

    Ah, okay. xDDD
    I totally forgot about that.
Thanks for telling me, though. ^^

    no problem

ok ill explain to people why this pokemon isnt concidered shiny and is just a regular gyrados.

ok in the game and anime, i think it stated this to, team rocket was making magikarp evolve. and this one gyrados(the one thats red) was just a regular magikarp that was forced to evolve so it became red instead of blue; in other words it was a regular non-shiny magikarp before it evolved. so technically its not a shiny pokemon seeing as its first form wasnt shiny and it was declared non-shiny anyway because of how easy it was to find.

Can't tell who's stupider here, those who think Kanto isn't in, those who think there won't be Red Gyrados, or those who think they'll change his level.

The answer to all of you: YOU'RE ALL ****ING IDIOTS.

ya screw you too. sorry that this post or thread isnt smart enough for you, seeing as this is a ligit question.

They could change his level, like they change Gym Leader's levels and the levels of Pokemon Trainers. That's possible so no need to go off on one about that.

Even if they put him in, I won't use him. Feraligatr will be my water-type user. However, it would be nice to own my first actual shiny. XD

Bah...Shinies fight NO better than regular Pokemon...
I just can't understand the big up-roar about them...
    "But they're ULTRA-rare!"
    BAH, HUMBUG!!!
I'd only REALLY care if they fought better...
It's STRENGTH, not RARITY that impresses me!
I just want the Gyarados to be red, since that's my favorite color.
