Basically, this thread is about the best way to catch the legendary birds of the correct nature to be used in competitve battling.

I just rushed completing Platinum to get Darkrai <3. Then I put a Calm Umbreon at the first on my party and went around to get Cresselia, Uxie and the legendary birds. Umbreon was first in my party, THEN I went to cresslia and uxie and Oak. But... Some reason all the pokemon weren't calm nature. I was very upset with this as I was planning to use both zapdos and cresslia in battling.

So, how did you get the zapdos or w/e the right nature without chasing them between routes and "trying" to get them? I found them really hard to catch too -.-"

I'm about to restart Platinum as I want another Darkrai, I have no idea when i'll get another chance in the UK. So I want to get the right nature birds too. Discuss and help.

Why would you give up all your progress so far just to get a different Darkrai? Just go to the trade boards.

Anyway, Snychronisation is random, it won't always happen. Getting the right natures on the runners is very hard because even once they respawn they won't appear on the marker map until you bump into them first.

Although Synchronization works 50% of the time, this isn't your main problem. You simply cannot synchronize roaming legends. Their values (including nature, IVs, and shininess) are set once you set them free. For example, Cresselia's nature is set once you talk to her on Fullmoon Island. Thus, to SR for a good Cresselia/Mesprit/Bird, you have to save and release them, find them, catch them, and check yourself. Kind of a pain, huh?

First, no, Synchronizing will never affect roaming Legendaries such as Cresselia and Mesprit. Second, no, they will appear on the Marking Map almost immediately upon being released, whether they have been encountered yet or not.

What TwilightBlade said is correct: the natures of roaming Legendaries are completely random, and are set in stone once they are released. The only way to find one with a decent nature in-game is by luck.

Hmm... I think I may need some clarrification with the birds. Are the natures set in stone when you talk to Oak? or when you first meet him? :o. Cos I really want a decent bird and cresslia without trading a shiny for it.

They are set in stone once they are released into the wild, which does not happen until you talk to Oak and he mentions that the Legendary Birds have been sighted.

So having umbreon first has absolutely no effect? I just have to get really extremely lucky?... That sounds lame and tiring =[. Although I hope to do it when I next restart

Correct. However, if you have not captured the Legendary Birds and saved yet, you can defeat them in the wild, defeat the Elite Four, and then return to Oak to re-release them with completely new natures.

You didn't read what I said correctly at all. Every time you defeat the E4 on random legend that you have already caught or defeated will respawn. If this is a runner they will only appear on the marker map once found. And I have done this several times.

^ apparently no one reads what you say correctly. Maybe it's not a coincidence.

Credit to Forci for helping me understand this, but each time you defeat the Elite 4, and the RANDOM (for you Greene, happy?) legend comes back, it will have a different nature. This may tak a while, but it is possible to "reset" for natures that way.

@ Forci, for below post: You go boih!

Sorry to sound incompetent. So let me clarify this once more so I don't get it wrong once I restart. I have already caught the birds and I'm trading over rare Tm's and items such as magmirizer, protecter, ect. Reply yes/no for each one.

    1. So when I restart the game and talk to oak he will set the birds free, umbreon or any other sync pokemon will not have any effect.

    2. However, if it's the wrong nature, I can attempt to catch them check the nature, if the nature is wrong i can "not save", kill them and just battle the elite 4. This allows them to be released as a different nature?

    3. If I caught a "correct" nature Zapdos but moltres and acrituno nature's are wrong. Can I rebattle the elite 4 to release just moltres and acituno?

    4. This doesn't affect Cresslia or mespriti does it? So I can just resave infront of them?

    Thanks

If you had only been referring to Legendaries that had been re-released, then you would not have said "even once they respawn", as that "even" states that you are also referring to the initial release. So, no, I read your post exactly as you typed it. Any problems with miscommunication are not at all my problem.

Also, where exactly are you getting the idea that only one Legendary will reappear?

The answer for all of the above is "yes".

I meant that even once they respawn the nature is hard to nail because of this fact.

Hmm... It's gonna take a lot of Elite 4 battling, reappearing birdies to get the right natures. Now I'm wondering if it's really worth it :o. But I want to restart it anyway so may as well =/.

Another quick question. Does this work with mespirit and cressla? the elite 4 thing? Or do they just faint and die?

I'm in this thread, ain't I? I've also been accused by you of reading something wrong, haven't I?

Yes you have but was in a different thread on a different matter and has come and gone, it is pathetically petty that you hold such a thing and bring it up again. Get over it and stop getting so offended just because a digital representation of a person you will never meet disagreed with you in the past; I already know I'm an ass, I don't need you to remind me of that :)

Offended? My dear boy, I'm having so much fun. This is delightful. I really truly thank you for this, you've brightened my day.

I meant that even once they respawn the nature is hard to nail because of this fact.

...Roaming Legendary natures cannot be influenced by Synchronize or any other reliable means, and you chose that reason to declare how difficult it is? Finding and capturing a Legendary is not exactly the same as releasing a Legendary with a decent nature, and that "fact" is still irrelevant to the initial release.

And again you state "even once they respawn" while I have already mentioned that they will show up on the Marking Map almost immediately, for the first time at the very least. Pardon me, but are you reading what I am typing?

I would still be interested in your source for this "only one random Legendary will be re-released at a time" statement, though, if you have any other than personal experience.

I already know I'm an ass, I don't need you to remind me of that :)

Ah, I was beginning to wonder. So you were only trolling, then... Well, that at least explains the flawed argument. Excuse me.
