That is sort of hard considering that Pokemon has covered nearly every elemental type that is not supernatural. But it has also covered other supernatural types. Chopping out ALOt of type possiblities.

Maybe a Air type, since flying types are more of birds ect why not change gust and whirlwind to air type?

Simple. I'd add Shadow Pokemon. It was a major success in Pokemon XD.

I'd love shadow pokemon! Actually, I think the main games should some how include shadow pokemon in the plot. Not the main focas of the game, but in the plot.

And maybe a light type to go with dark type. Don't know what moves it could have though

I've said it before and I'll say it again: cosmic type.

The Clefairy family, the Starmie family, Solrock, Lunatone, the Metagross family, Deoxys, and Cresselia can all be retyped into it (overwriting their psychic typing)

Attacks like Moonlight, Morning sun, Meteor Mash, Lunar Dance, metronome, can be re-typed into cosmic type as well. :P

I like Cosmic type Timbjerr, good idea. And as for Light type, fans have been saying that since Gen II

I also heard a Fanon type called "Glitch/Computer Type". All Porygons, Missingno., Magnemite, and Rotom would fall in this Category.

Now I think it would be a good idea to have a Vortex Type. Here are the rules:

Vortex is only weak to Psychic and a specific array of moves. Transform would actually do damage to a Vortex Type.

Vortex is resistant to Fighting and Normal.

Vortex is does good damage to Fighting, Normal, Ghost (depending on the move), Dragon, Ice, and Flying.

All Special Attacks that make no physical contact do no damage to a Vortex type.

All Vortex types have to be able to learn the move Teleport.

The following Pokemon would be all/part the Vortex type:

    Abra (Psychic/Vortex)

    Natu (Psychic/Vortex)

    Ralts (Psychic/Vortex)

    Claydol (Ground/Vortex)

    Porygon (Vortex)

Mewtwo (Psychic/Vortex. Mew is still just Psychic)

Portail (Vortex. Pokemon I made up who looks a bit like a skinny pikachu with round ears. His tail is long, and touches his neck to form a circle. The circle contains a giant portal, which people can step into and teleport to other places)

Taileportar (Vortex. Evolution of above Pokemon. Sort of like a Rhydon but without a horn and a less jagged body. It's tail is the same, but it is big enough to fit a building through)

I hope you guys like my idea of the Vortex type!

Digital type. The Porygon family would get it, and possibly Rotom too (I'm honestly not entirely sure what exactly Rotom is so...)

A virus type! So, if porygon uses its Download ability (it uses it automattically) it could get a virus Status Condition! Virus can only be obtained by computer type (or digital, what charmageddon said) and the pokemon affected by it loses (insert number) per turn, and the Virus type get (insert number) Hp per turn!
    And an anti-Virus type!

Most fan-made types fail to be applicable in a manner distinct from one or another existing type. 'Light' is really the best I've seen since, oh how long have I been here... 2006; and it is as similar to electricity as rock and steel are to each other anyway.

I don't want to ruin anyone's fun though, just saying.

I think that'd be entering the Digimon world more than the Pokemon one. :P

I love the idea of that Cosmic type though. That'd work pretty greatly.

I think it's weird no one said Sound already. I mean, Chatot, Kricketot, Kricketune, Chingling, Chimecho, etc. And I also made a few sound type pokémon myself. Moves that are sound based will turn into sound, and the soundproof ability will make a sound typed move useless, like Levitate does to ground types.

Uhm... I also thought about a few sound type moves like TUNE IN, where the user collects radio waves, and then emits them, so they strike the opponent's pokémon. A strong move with a high accuracy, but just like solar beam, you need to charge first. Also the location (the further you are from a city, or in a place where you have no connection with the sattelites will make the move weaker) depends the power of the move.

As others have mentioned, I think a Light type would work to go against Dark.

    Pokemon that would have it:
    Lumineon
    Sunflora
    Volbeat
    Illumise
    Cresselia

Moves like Flash, Sunny Day, and Signal Beam would be changed to Light. Plus, Sunny Day would also boost Light type moves.

I also like the Vortex and Sound ideas. I think they're pretty unique and would work well with some existing Pokes.

Fairy I'd say is large enough to get its own type. Mainly includes "cute" pokemon such as Pikachu line, Clefairy/Jigglypuff lines, Togepi, Marill, Snubbull, Plusle/Minun, Bellossom, the cute legends (Mew, Celebi (fairy/grass), Jirachi (fairy/steel), Manaphy, Phione, Shaymin-O (fairy/grass), Chansey line, etc.
Super Effective to Dark, Fighting, Poison
Not Very Effective to Ghost, Bug, Rock

    Resists Dark, Fighting, Rock
    Harmed by Ghost, Fire

Moves would include Attract, Follow Me, Lovely Kiss, Sweet Kiss, Helping Hand, Screens, and Healing Wish.

They can't make new type as all areas are covered. But with cosmic, vortex and stuff, you can't add them to existing Pokemon, their types are already set in the Pokedex.

I always though there should be a Wind type, most flying types would be flying/wind to compensate for the flying/normal there's an abundance of.

Moves like Air Cutter, Gust, Whirlwind would be Wind and Wing Attack, Peck, Fly, et cetera would all remain flying.

There could be also a Gale weather effect, reduces accuracy of all projectile attacks, speeds certain Pokémon up with the ability or something.
