Question from a movie.

I have a question that was asked on a movie I saw with my sister a few weeks ago. It's actually a good movie, even though it's very girly. They have an iPhone in it and an iMac, which makes it as such in my eyes. I'm curious what others will respond with when I pose this question...

Would you rather be a friendless loser*, or have lots of friends who secretly hate you?
    * If you respond stating that you'd rather be a friendless loser, one or two friends is acceptable, considering this is judged on society's standards.

I would rather be a friendless loser than have friends who secretly hate me. I've been there, done that, so I know what it feels like. People I consider friends I want to be honest with how they feel about me. I don't want them to be buddy-buddy with me when we talk, and then turn around and talk about me behind my back with people. A lot of people I know I consider to be people who have a lot of friends who secretly hate them because they're obsessed with popularity. As long as they're considered popular, whether or not it's genuine, that's all they care about. I hope they grow out of that after high school. It's really a terrible trait to have where you're obsessed with being popular, if you ask me.

Friendless loser. I don't like the fact that people I trust makes fun of me behind my back, if that's the friends I'm going to have, then I might as well cut connections with them.

I'm already a literal friendless loser, so even the two or three friends that the poll assumes will be a step up for me. XD

Most people would take the friendless loser route — life strives to lack adversity.

I'm already a friendless loser, go figure.

A friendless loser, because having friends that would secretly hate you would be hard to deal with. Your friends would be fakers, and if you ever found out that they hate you, it would really hurt.

Since I, too, am pretty close to a friendless loser (I guess I have a few more friends than qualifies), I suppose I'd rather lose a few than have more that hate me.

I mean, not everyone has to like me, not at all -- I'd just appreciate it if they tell that to me to my face rather than fake being nice to me when all they want to do is hate me. :/ Granted, that's life, I suppose, lying to people.

I would rather be a friendless loser.

I have a lot of friends, but I would rather only have 1 or 2 really close friends than people who actually don't like me.

Id rather be a friendless loser. Its painful to have friend you actually think are your friends talking about behind your back. If anything needs to be said I rather for them to grow some and say it to my face like a man, instead of running of saying things like a little boy.

I would pick friendless loser, since I would have at least one real friend than many friends that hate me. Plus, I hate large crowds.

As long as they secretly hate me, what difference does it make to me? I know people who think they have friends but the feeling isn't mutual (the other people don't hate the person but they'd rather not have them around) and they seem perfectly happy to me. As I see it, so long as the I never find out that people hate me, it's better to have people that act as though they like me than to face the truth that I'm not an enjoyable person to be around. I'm a firm believer in "ignorance is bliss" and I think that that ideology applies to this situation.
Of course, if I were to find out that people hated me (and, from my experience, people always find out), that's a different story. But we're assuming that I never will so I'll stick with having "friends" that hate me.

A friendless looser, who wants fake friends? I rather have no friends at all, instead of being surrounded by people who are just trying to hurt me.

    Friendless Loser.
I rather have just a few friends who like me for who I am, then to have many friends who just straight out hate me behind my back.

If they kept their hatred hidden, then they're just friends, aren't they? Should be fine...

Although, I have a friend who hates me and it's not a fun thing. Whether you know it or not, it's still pretty annoying, especially if they show it in a subtle way.

So I'd say friendless loser. Friends that hate you are bad, trust me, whether you know or not.

Personally, I couldn't stand to have friends who secretly hated me, because no matter how well they could hide the fact that they hated me, I'd know. I'm sensitive like that...sensitive in the 6th sense way that is. I know it's kinda hard to believe, but that's how I am. So yeah, I'd rather be a friendless loser.

Technically, I could argue that IRL, I am a friendless loser, but such is not the case, I am just naturally more distant and less likely to track my friends down when life moves on.

I don't think of someone as a friend if they secretly hate me, so I'd rather be a friendless loser, only because I am allowed to keep a few real friends.
Of course, I already am a friendless loser so nothing would change.

So many people are quick to say they're already friendless losers ): I'm a friendless winner. Screw backstabbing bastards, I'd take the friendless loser option.
