Melodies of Gandala
Welcome to the ancient region of Gandala, a land rich in mythology and legend. What was once one island has since split in two, still connected to one another by a long bridge, making for some very drastic changes between the two islands.
Cal co., the company responsible for producing the majority of Gandala's technology, has recently started a new, and controversial, business endeavor: The selling of shiny Pokemon.
While some believe that purchasing Pokemon is just one of many ways to obtain said creatures, others believe it is un-sportsman like to buy a Pokemon, rather than find and capture or trade for it. There is also a third group of extremists who fear what Cal co. is capable of. While shiny Pokemon are slightly easier to find in Gandala, they are hardly common enough to locate in hordes. Is Cal.co conducting experiments on Pokemon to make them shiny? With their technology it is quite possible, and what if they don't stop at altering a Pokemon's color? What if they begin splicing Pokemon together in order to make custom breeds?
Of course, it's not the region's controversial issues that bring trainers to the region, no, they come to take part in the Conductor's Challenge: A slightly different spin on the gym leader's challenge most regions are known for.
Conductors do not have a set type to battle with, choosing instead to focus on themes, ie: The sun, mountains, or even food.
Along the way these trainers will face many challenges, meet rivals, friends, and enemies alike. Pokemon that they thought they knew so well might discover long forgotten abilities, who knows? They might even manage to encounter some legendary Pokemon.

Gameplay:
This RP takes place in a slightly different dimension than the canon games, thus some things might be a bit different. There will be new mega-evolutions, altered shiny Pokemon, and a few type changes to Pokemon (obvious ones, like Flabebe needing to be a Fairy/Grass type). When these Pokemon appear there will be a note detailing any changes. For example; Deerling and Sawsbuck will have a different secondary typing depending on what season they are.
We are also considering putting in a new type all together, but nothing is certain on that one.
This is mostly a sandbox RP, the players will be able to do whatever they want (within reason). The GM and Vice GM will direct players towards the game's end goal, but that does not mean it has to be the player's only goal. Pokemon has always been a world of mystery with plenty of things to discover and experience, and we welcome the players to do just that.
All players will begin their journey in Capital Town, where the region's professor, Zelkova, has set up his laboratory. If this is a trainer's first journey, they will have the opportunity to choose one of Gandala's starter Pokemon:

Along with the three starter Pokemon that will be given, ten young trainers have recently come into possession of fossils, which Zelkova has agreed to revive.

Trainers who already have a Pokemon will be given a Pokedex, and their journeys will start from there. New areas will be open when the GM and vice GM decide it is time. Once opened, these areas can always be returned to.
Capturing Pokemon
You can catch as many pokemon as you want, Gandala has a fully functioning PC, but you will only be allowed to keep six Pokemon on you at any given time. With each new area, the Pokemon that are obtainable in that area will be posted. Movesets and natures will be determined by the player encountering the Pokemon, however, capture posts must end with the shaking of the pokeball. The GM will determine if the Pokemon is caught using a random number generator, along with the catch rate of that Pokemon.If the capture fails, players are welcome to try again. Players are welcome to trade Pokemon with one another, as well as certain NPCs that might offer a trade, these NPCs will be logged in the special event section of that area's post.
Moves and Evolution
Levels do not play a role in this rp, as such, moves will not be learned in any particular order. Pokemon can be taught new moves through training and battling (example: How Ash's Pikachu learned iron tail). As of now, Pokemon will be able to know a total of six moves. This may later be bumped up to eight, if the GMs see fit. A Pokemon may learn any move it is capable of learning, including egg moves, TM and HM moves. This being said, TM and HMs do not need to exist.
Pokemon will not need to waste a moveslot to learn HM moves such as surf/fly/strength. If a Pokemon has wings, it can fly, it doesn't need a move to do so. Same with swimming and pushing things out of the way.
Trade evolution does not exist in this rp, stone and item evolution do. Stones and evolution-inducing items can be purchased in certain Pokemarts around the region. When the GM believes your pokemon is capable of evolution, you will receive a PM telling you so. Your Pokemon may evolve any time after the message is sent.
Mega evolution exists, there will come a time in the plot when trainers will obtain mega stones/rings. Mega evolution will not be possible until then.
Conductors:
The conductor's theme will be covered in their town's description, as well as a team of six Pokemon the Conductor is known to use. Conductors battle with as many Pokemon as their challenger has. If a challenger has one Pokemon, the Conductor will choose one Pokemon, if the challenger has a full team of six, they will battle with their full team. Players will be asked to make a post telling which of their Pokemon they plan to bring to the Conductor's arena before the challenge can begin.

Some routes/cities will come with optional side quests or special events that you can take part in, these will be mentioned in area posts.

- This RP rated T. If the GM or vice-GM feel you are doing something that goes against this rating, you will be sent a PM and asked to stop. Please don't make them do this more than once.
- This is an open rp, new rp'ers welcome.
- While characters don't necessarily have to get along, the writers must be nice to one another at all times.
- No writing for another character unless you are given permission.

Starter Pokemon: Any Pokemon that is in its earliest form. Include gender, ability and moveset, nickname. If a trainer is from the Gandala region, he/she may have purchased a shiny Pokemon from Cal.co (keep in mind they are very expensive, and it is requested that the player write a short description of how they came to have this Pokemon in the 'other' section), other shinies will need to be approved by the GM via PM.
*Note: Altered Pokemon, ie the Orange Island Butterfree, May's Bulbasaur with the heart-shaped spots, are more than welcome, simply list their alterations in their Poke-description
