  • We already revisited Kanto, and Ash invited Misty and Brock to visit Alola sometime.

The anime will just stick to Alola until Gen 8 comes out.

As I said, we need more info, but once Ash does his 4th Island challenge, there really isn't anything else to do in the League. The Battle Agency could be a thing, but I don't know.

I would prefer to return to Johto over Kanto again, but my reasoning for thinking they will go to Kanto is because they have already been to Kanto this saga.

    So far with the remakes:
FRLG = We had the Kanto Battle Frontier.
HGSS = We didn't have much, Johto, but they did bring in character from Johto and mentioned it a number of times. Dawn also went to Hoenn in a single episode for her after Sinnoh.
ORAS = Alain spent most of his small arc in Hoenn. Serena was going to Hoenn.

Chances are, Kanto will make a return. Johto would also be great since it is right next to Kanto and we didn't return to Johto in HGSS.

I would be overjoyed if we returned to Johto, even though I didn't like the anime much there, it has a bigger nostalgia value to me than Kanto does, and I don't usually like submitting to nostalgia. So I would love for Johto to be redeemed in the anime after its basic copy and paste of the Kanto anime.

Plus we could finally catch up with all the character who are supposed to be in Johto.

On a side note, I will be keeping up with the animator's twitter. I don't want to grasp at straws, but who knows? Maybe he will throw in subtle hints of whats to come. We probably won't find out about SM Season 3 for Japan until October or November of this year.

There's really nothing for Ash to do in Kanto. He already beat all of the gyms.

To be fair, there's barely anything Ash is doing in Alola as it is beyond the Trials thanks to his being forced into a school environment. Probably the only chance he has left is the Alola league that's implied to be occurring in the future.

Plus, if Lillie ends up traveling to Kanto with him, he can always show her the ropes regarding Pokémon training, so he'd actually have something to do as a mentor in Kanto. That's of course assuming they actually DO go to Kanto, though, since it's likely they won't.

Yeah. I don't really think that they are going to Kanto.

We'll see. Let's not forget that with Sinnoh, they actually did a lengthy arc of nothing, and since Gen 8's due out in the latter half of 2019, they might just pull a Sinnoh.

That being said, I do hope we get the Hapu Grand Trial and Pokémon League soon (not to mention Misty and Brock's arrival in Alola as well). And I hope that this time around, Ash actually WINS the Pokémon League.

Sinnoh had the Team Galactic finale and Dawn's Grand Festival between the seventh and eighth gyms, so it wasn't all filler.

Keep dreaming. Ash is never winning.

Don't be so sure. Let's not forget that when the results of the Kalos league happened, the Japanese fanbase expressed their outrage on Twitter and even went as far as to post images showing them throwing out various Pokémon games and equipment, and the last thing the writers would want to do is tick off their home base. They might disappoint the overseas base or tick them off, but if they end up ticking off their own home fanbase, they definitely crossed a very big line. Ticking off the base with their removing Misty and Brock from Movie 20 (which apparently generated similar outrage from the Japanese base from what I heard) may have also played some role in their being granted a reappearance a while back. If the writers don't want to tick off their fans again, especially not their Japanese fans, I definitely don't see them just having Ash lose the league again (besides, how can he lose, when it's literally going to be the first league Alola is ever going to have?).

They don't care about the older fans. I heard someone saying that if Ash wins the league the series is over.

They certainly care about the Japanese fans, considering that's where most of their pocketbook comes from. And if they truly didn't care about the older fans, they would never have brought Misty and Brock back in SM at all, or Jigglypuff for that matter. Keep that bit in mind.

As far as the league being over, last I checked, Ash won the Orange Islands league, and that never stopped the show. Heck, technically, even if he DOES win the league, he'd still need to fight the regional Elite 4 and Champion, so he still has a way to go before the show can actually be over (this was stated in DP).

I do agree with you that Ash needs to win the Alola League or the fans get mad again, especially if even the fans in Pokemon's own home country got pissed at the Kalos League's ending and Misty and Brock's omission from M20.

They don't care about what the fans want. They only care about the fans to the extent that they go out and buy the merchandise.

So why did they bring Misty and Brock back a while back? Not like they needed to do so back in September. Heck, why even bring Jigglypuff back at all? And that character was MIA since AG, even moreso than Misty and Brock.

They brought Misty and Brock back because it was the 20th anniversary.

The 20th anniversary of the anime was last year and they wanted to celebrate it.

    1. Don't double post.

    2. So? They also brought back Charizard in BW, and even had him stay at Oak's Lab instead of, you know, return to Charcific Valley, and that wasn't anywhere close to a major anniversary date. And besides, technically, Pokémon Movie 20 was also released during the 20th Anniversary, yet that didn't stop them from keeping Misty and Brock out despite the movie being a retelling of Ash's first journey. And that still doesn't explain why they not only brought Jigglypuff back after going MIA in Hoenn, but even managed to bring it to Alola. Use common sense, if they didn't care about what fans thought, they would NEVER have brought them back, and in fact would have gone out of their way to avoid bringing them back under any capacity, sort of like what they did with Misty and Brock in Pokémon I Choose You. Even bringing them back for the 20th anniversary has the implicit acknowledgement, and thus caring, of what fans want. If they didn't care about what fans wanted, truly didn't care, well, let's just say the writers would respond on Twitter with really mean and insulting posts calling their own fans and customers really nasty names like Chuck Wendig did recently to the fans that criticized Solo.

Eh he didn't double post but merely said the same thing that Rad said. With that out of the way, by your own logic then we should be seeing Serena again if they truly care about the fans and their desires since Serena is about as popular as they come for past characters. Heck, let's include Dawn and May while we're at it since their popularity hasn't waned as much as people think(at least to me, although May returning is complicated by Kaori's current profession). Dawn returning isn't that farfetched because she hasn't been to Kanto yet and people have been clamoring for Sinnoh remakes for awhile now(plus with the Gen 4 pandering in "I Choose You", you'd think they'd be teasing one sometime soon).

All I know is that with it being June and Movie21 slated to release in Japan next month, we'll get more clarity on the Sun&Moon Anime in the coming weeks. I mean Episode 81 was just announced(pushing Season 21 of English Dub to 38 Episodes) and that won't air until July 5th.

Hey, since that animator posted concept art of May, Serena, and Gary with Eevees and said animator implied that it would be part of the future of the series (just ask IcyIce), who says they can't bring them back in the near future (even though I personally think bringing Serena, May and Dawn back when there aren't any Pokémon Contests in Alola's a stupid idea)? Besides, they also indicated that Misty and Brock are going to be appearing in Alola soon. Besides, that magazine interview released around the time the Kanto revisit arc was announced implied that we'd be seeing more of the old cast.

And fine, my mistake regarding the double post, but my point still stands (and I've seen plenty of instances of companies who literally don't care about their fans at all and go so far as to attack their own customers. Marvel Comics and the recent version of Star Wars come to mind).
