I don't know if anyone is experiencing this bug but when I play Beta 5 on Myoldboy, the hack crashes in the player's bedroom.

I'm aware of this bug, and I have already done quite a bit of investigation related to this. I have noticed, how to make the game not to crash in the player's bedroom, but fixing that issue brings up other unwanted side-effects.

The problematic part about fixing this issue is the fact that My OldBoy seems to function a bit differently from other GB/C emulators. Furthermore, the change that causes the game to crash is actually related to a wanted change (well.. I guess I mentioned that already above by saying that fixing the issue brings up other unwanted side-effects), and thus, there is no easy solution for fixing this problem. But I'll see if I can do something reasonable about it.

For now, everyone should simply play with a different emulator.

Dark Energy isn't complete yet either. But you're right. We do have three hacks with new releases in this month :)

I got the whooly hat and ran through the cold cave? But I'm trying to run back after beating the flying gym and got cut and I keep fainting trying to run back through the cave. Did I miss something else to keep me warm or am I doing something wrong?

It's easier to get back to Little Stone than it was to make it from Little Stone to the other side of the hack.
Are you possibly playing with high emulation speeds though? If you lower down the emulation speed, it shouldn't be much of an issue getting through the cave having Woolly Hat in your key item pocket.

For now, it might be as simple to enable playing on My OldBoy as removing the possibility to set poke dolls on the table of your room via Decorations menu with the PC. My OldBoy has some strange bug trying to load those sprites (even when they're not being displayed in the beginning of the game, but they are yet around) that causes the emulation to crash.

I could check if removal of those poke dolls from the player's room would be enough. If it is, I might just release a separate patch file for My OldBoy where the poke dolls won't just show up even if you set them on the table via PC. Later on I could try to come up with a solution where the poke dolls even show up on My OldBoy.

My knowledge of the game I'm hacking is not the best possible as light ball is for example one item of which function I wasn't aware of (or couldn't remember) until I now checked what it's for via Bulpapedia... Nonetheless, it's not around, but it's something that I could definitely add for a future release. It might even make sense to have the player obtain it quite early on as an item lying around somewhere, or having a person give it to you.

First, I just got to the end of the hack. Well done sir. As always, some solid RPG/Pokemon gameplay and I wish others would take up the mantle of this sort of Pokemon story (at least for GBC games).

Did the page locations get changed in Beta 5? I have the pages from the Farm, House on the Island, surfing and fighting a dude, the thief's hideout and the briefcase. What happened to the one from fighting the sages? Don't you get one from battle Neal a second time? I remember playing in Beta 4 and it went to my pc because my pack was full, but it isn't the case this time.

Also, didn't the sages get stronger the second time through?

Lastly, are their keys for the locked doors in Harbor Town's harbor building, or are those in the next hack?

Nope, far from done. Beta 5 does cover a lot more plot than beta 4, but there is more coming up in later releases. As of now, even after beta 6.

I don't really remember if I have done any changes to the teams of the 2nd encounters of sages since beta 4.1. I could naturally have because it's been 4 and half years since the release of beta 4.1, but yeah.. I don't remember.

Okay - so you did find the last Page. Awesome!

Adria will tell you she will only appear to you if you could be called a "master" yourself. And Neal grants you this title when you beat him for the first time, so that should answer your question. I changed it to work like this because it makes much more sense than how it works in beta 4.1. This also sort of balances the requirements for accessing these two legendary encounters (related to Master of Adria and Missing Pages sidequests).

And I have also an update to hand out!

A certain guy (won't add his nickname here because I didn't ask if it's okay although probably would be) from Discord joined me to develop Dark Energy. He will be doing spriting at the very so least. So expect to see some graphical changes for the upcoming releases :)

Also quite related to the above, there are now new overworld and front sprites for the main characters. The one you play with in beta 5 ("Cactus") doesn't get any changes, but the sprites of "Oscar" and "Ashlyn" are changed to reflect to the looks of their back sprites which are something that aren't normally seen in the game but still around. Ashlyn's back sprite you can find in the Dark Energy banner (in my signature), and Oscar's back sprite can't really be seen in any way.

So you may ask, what are the front, and back sprites of Oscar and Ashlyn for? Well, the thing is, there is a certain segment in beta 6 where I wanted to have the player play as Oscar, and another segment where as Ashlyn. The support for that already exists, but that's not all. I recently dropped the "Menu Account" option from Options menu and replaced that with "Player" selection. Thus in the next release, you will be able to, sort of freely, configure, which character to use! Naturally in the beginning, you'll be playing with Cactus,. But my current plan is such that you'll get to select Oscar and Ashlyn as soon as you have them in your party.

Also, I'm thinking of releasing yet another version of beta 5, Beta 5.10, which would add the player selection option in the game. Most that is left to be done for that is to modify existing scripts so that they can reflect to selected player. Now most events make the assumption that the used character is Cactus while after this change it could also be Oscar or Ashlyn (if the script is accessible during a point of the game where you may have Oscar or Ashlyn in your party).

I will also try my best to maintain the support for Beta 5.00 saves. Currently there are no threats that would make it impossible to transfer a Beta 5.00 save on top of this upcoming Beta 5.10, or even as a save file for Beta 6.00 whenever that comes up. But Beta 6 is "miles away", so save file support for that could naturally change over time and changes.

Yes, you can find all the 7 miners, but finding the seventh one is problematic as it's no way explained. Beta 6 will cover hints about a certain adventurer who may under certain circumstances join you as one of the miners. Now then.. you must have recruited 6 miners before you can even find this last one which you have naturally done, but typing this here as someone else could be interested as well.

Given you have recruited the other miners, there is a certain cave/mountain area where this new fellow will show up although there hasn't been anyone there before. You won't be able to recruit him directly as you approach him, but you should get the idea.. :)

Are you sure you can't download the file? Doesn't it rather occur when trying to execute the downloaded IPS patch file? Judging by the error message you got, this sounds more like a Windows registry issue related to opening a file on your computer:

Also if you can download the file, but cannot patch it directly by opening the downloaded file, look up your Lunar IPS executable, and open that in order to execute the the "Apply IPS Patch".
