In my case I started out with the Toonami type stuff and shifted over to that as I got older and my stress levels dictated needing more "healing" shows rather than intense action shows.

I didn't touch either of those. I'm firmly in the territory of liking shows about cute girls doing cute things like Non Non Biyori, so shows that have a more violent premise in the synopsis tend to not catch my eye, and I've had my fill of romcoms for the most part.
