I'm using a Fire Red ROM as a base so I'll need to edit one of the Pokemon in the game into a Riolu. There's only 1 starter in the game and it's Riolu.

Well first I edited the starting room to make it bigger and change it to a cave (the map that I posted in the review thread), and it worked when I tested it. I then made route one wider and shorter. That's when it stopped working. Could editing a route be a problem as well?
