Yeah, it was an interesting change! Early on Heroine had more of the votes, but then Hero caught up and then overtook. And it was enough! Hero wins by 7 votes overall. On Twitter was just the 1 vote in it, with Heroine getting more.

Yeah okay, I did some digging (while that page does list those names, there is no source!). Here's the bit that it came from (2:24 in): Multiple 'Jamie' and 'River's here, presumably from various player characters sharing their images in that in-game feature. I guess it is as good as any...

I have not seen it on bulbapedia myself, so a specific link would be helpful. Also I'm often sceptical of wikis anyone can edit - would like to see the original source.
