I've never played any thing part gen 2 (though I should be doing a soul link of gen 3 some time this year maybe), and I know little of the new Pokemon, so I can't provide much input. Rather, I'd say that it may have been better off they had just made some Pokemon better (eg Aipom) from the start...

That's pretty crazy. I would have given up long ago.

I pretty much agree with many of these grips, but mostly I just hated not being able to use surf or cut or whatever by pressing A on the target object.

Yea, RGBY didn't have clocks, so their batteries last much longer. I haven't checked my cartridges in over a year, but last I checked all of them were still working. Shouldn't be too long now, though.
