Alright so I'll try and teach you how to ev train and how to get good iv's.

First what you need to do is read over this

That will give you some backround knowledge of ev/iv's.

Next you need to take a look of this

This is to make sure you have the right amout of ev's for a pokemon. So lets say you want to raise your newly caught Raichu to a fierce warrio what you do first is go to www.smogon.com click on D/P/P and then click on Raichu's name. It will give you a list of all the possible good ev trained pokemon. Choose the one you think is the best. And it will tell you the moves it needs to learn and the item it needs and then on the upper right hand corner it will say ev's like 6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe and to give him those ev's you use the third link I gave you and you fight a Azumarill twice and your raichu will now have 6 hp points like it wanted above.

How did Azumarill give Raichu those points? Its simple Azumarill gives off 3 hp points. You beat him twice so you just got 6 points.

Also make sure you write down every ev point you get on a piece of paper or you might over do it or not give it enough.

Also use this calculator http://www.psypokes.com/dex/iv.php to make sure your pokemon is going on a right track. And never ev train a pokemon you already trained. Catch a new one or hatch one so the ev's are at zero and you know you can't mess up.
