Personally, Platinum is my favourite original Pokemon game. HG/SS are my favourite, but since they're remakes, I won't count them.

Just not a fan over having like over the top versions of the same Pokemon. I'd rather just put the effort into making more new Pokemon instead.

I always prefer to start with Cyundaquil, as I can get a Wooper and later Quagsire to cover water and ground types. He's basically a not as good version of Swampert - my favourite final evolution of a starter.

Gen 4 has always been my favourite. It's the first one that got everything right and they should have stuck with that formula moving forward. Instead they started introducing ridiculous things like mega evolution and Z moves.

Learn all the red flags for fake Pokemon games before you buy off eBay. Always ask to see the inner workings of the catridge (if it's GB or GBA). Before completing my collection, I used to go to many major second-hand gaming chains, but there was so many fakes being sold, that they had no idea...

My Platinum/competitive team are in my signature.

HG/SS are the greatest of all Pokemon games.

For a water/ground type, I pick Quagsire every time (that's if I don't have Swampert).

Evolve that Machoke and hope it has No Guard. This with a combination of Dynamicpunch to confuse with 100% accuracy and fill out the other moves with elemental punches and you'll be golden.

Piplup. Empoleon is by far the most versatile final evolution and its typing is great.

Canalave because of the Darkrai event. The mystery around it is great.

Massive fan of the Battle Tower as my team's strategy really works in it.

Glaceon for me looks better, but because Vaporeon can use ice moves, it's a bit pointless. Leafeon would come in handy more often.

Get on the border two short routes, both with grass on them and move back and forth between each, checking the map for the change of location of the Pokemon and keep a Pokemon with Mean Look to stop them running away. Works every time for me.
