in game i just want to build a solid team with no weaknesses, but how do i start?

its just sooo, overwhelming 0_0 where do i start? how do i build a team? please dont flame me. the only decent pokemon i have are lvl 50 infernape, 50 chatot, 35 lucario, 35 haunter....

yah, but cyrus has flipping water any flying types which DESTROY ME!!!!!!!!! also, ppl say that chatot has batd stats iv ev and some other flippin weird stuff..... iv? ev? how do you tell if a pokemon has good or bad stats?
