Thanks guys!
@Mkol103
Alright. I'll try and keep to the "state of [town_name]" vars. The one for Dewford works perfectly fine and solved my problem :)
@Avara
Thanks for the link! The list certainly helps a lot :)
Hi everybody!
I'm currently working on my own little Emerald Hack and I ran into a problem with my first attempt at a scripted event.
The event is supposed to trigger when you take your first step off the dock in Dewford Town and has Noland walk up to the player, talk and walk offscreen.
When...
No problem. I hope this one makes it into your notifications. You're right. The "choosetwoturnanimation" tab was the key.
After testing 2CCFE6 actually was the animation I needed. Now it looks more unique than just having two "Double-Edges".
Thanks a ton :)

It seems that 2CCF8F is the pointer for the first half of the move, so sadly that doesn't work.
After looking for it in Hex Maniac myself, I couldn't seem to find it, but it's possible I'm just blind.
I went with the "Double-Edge" animation until I find out what...

Thanks a lot!
It's usually such a hassle to find these two-turn pointers.
Only ones I know are Sky Attack and Razor Wind.
I'll try it out the Skull Bash one later :)
Pretty much the title.
I specifically need the animation pointer of Skull Bash's striking animation to turn it into a make-shift Headsmash.
Help is much appreciated :)

Thanks again for reading my paragraph. It's nice to talk to people that are interested in game balancing and I can definitely see your counter-arguments :)
And about that... xD You hit it spot on. It is heavy for a first gym battle and you are intended to learn...
@Ash_Blawsome
I'm a huge fan of the tundra-style areas you described. Route 216 in Sinnoh has to be one of the atmospherically complete areas in the main games.
The music, the worsening visibility and the varying walking speeds as you slip deeper into the snow. Full-Imersion <3
When thinking...
@Meister_anon~Master_o f_None
That's a topic I spend a lot of time thinking about.
Difficulty in games is a tricky subject to tackle, but if done right it can make for a fun, challenging and, above all else, satisfying experience when overcoming obstacles.
As you've listed quite a few things...
@kalarie
Thank you! That did it!
I thought I messed something up and was prepared to revert to a backup, but I'm glad it was only something minor like this.
Thanks again and I hope you have a nice day.
So, yeah I'm new to the ROM hacking stuff. Wanted to get into it and work away at a few ideas I had for Emerald to learn along the way.
After a few days I encountered a glitch that puts the player character under the map (?) and blocks certain tiles from being walked on, if you can even call it...
