So far (less than 2 days since I got the game) spearow, poliwag, gastly and metagross.
Out of those I had only caught spearow at the time they appeared in my pelago.
One of the main reasons given given for a new version of them (pretty much the only reason) was for regular forms of Kanto Pokémon, which can be obtained through the re-released and sent across using bank, so there is absolutely zero need to go back to Kanto right now.
The answer has already been given by Gamefreak, it's in the demo.
If you try and transfer Greninja over, the Professor says it won't obey you until you have obtained 2 (I think) trial badges, so they will fill the role that gym badges had.
Just going to say that a riddler gimmick for doing leaks is probably the safest way (in terms of retaining any credibility).

Clutching at straws a bit, but it's possible they aren't revealing all Alolan forms like they don't reveal all the Pokemon, and are just revealing Gen 1 alolan forms to appeal to genwunners
Logic tells us that anyway.
If a Pokemon evolves (Darwinian) to adapt to its surroundings, then when it evolves (Pokemon) it isn't going to be the same as the unadapted one.
