I don't know. When I charged mine, I used the Switch charger I never play in tv mode (not enough power sockets). No LED, nothing. But when I took it off of the charger after the foretold 3 hours it worked fine. Heck I played almost all day long on the pokeball as controller (long enough to be in Lavender Town without rushing anything) and my pokeball still didn't need another charge. So I don't think there is an indicator.
