Pokemon that enemy trainers have depends on the level. When you are in the higher levels already you can now experience playing against strong Pokemons. You can fight strong pokemons already when you are still a lowbie that would make the game impossible to accomplish.

I think the warrior and ninja thing is overused. I have an seen many stories about warrior. But your story is good worth the read. I was just thinking of something new and unique.
