You can mine for Heart Scales or thieve them off of wild Luvdisc, although the rate for those holding them has been lowered.
As for Type Gems, you can buy them in the Obsidia Department Store, although I don't remember which floor, off the top of my head. There are also some hidden literally...
Thunder is my personal favourite, although Tri Attack, Sheer Cold and Blast Burn were all particularly memorable as well.
Oh, and I like how Return's animation changed depending on how close your Pokemon was to you. The screen darkening and the multiple hits becoming stronger and stronger...
Mega Sableye toting around the gigantic gem is really adorable to me for some reason. Good to know that it gets one like its counterpart, too- it's a bit late, but that's fair enough.
Ability-wise, Prankster is my best guess, since that's (arguably) the best one it can get, but who knows...
Oh God a Grass mono-type... that's hard mode in pretty much any game.
Setting up Curse against Scyther with Torterra would probably help it take more hits? You'll want to heal it and then try attacking- you should be able to take it out then, since Scyther is pretty frail.
