Heh heh - I certainly didn't say I'm untalented. I consider myself incredibly skilled with the creative applications of game design, such as mapping, art, music and story design. However, I can't do anything with these applications because I don't know how the process works mechanically (I...
...oh my.
That is fantastic! Though I have no idea how it's done or how it affects the ramifications of making a map (I think I heard that world maps need certain dimensions, numbers of tiles, etc)
I hate not knowing what I'm doing!
Perhaps I'm late to the party, but I wanted to warn you that both of your maps are built on resolutions too large for FireRed's map (or the game screen!). Maps have to be 24 tiles wide and 18 tiles tall - There are also buffer regions 2 tiles thick on the top, and one tile thick on the bottom...
A lot of Wesley's tiles went missing. Plus, I don't want to seem unoriginal by just using all of his stuff like everyone else.
And on top of that, I'd need to make some of my own tiles anyhow, meaning I would have to imitate both his palette and his style...
I disagree.
Lol.
Yeah, there's no easy route when it comes to hacking, I think that's the lesson to be learned. Right now I'm in the process of trying to figure out if I should recycle the tilesets and pallets in Firered or just start from scratch and be gone with it all.
But then I have...
I'm at the point where there are just so many things I want to add, I may just make all of my hack's tiles from scratch. What is there to know?
I believe I heard that there are a total of 13 palettes, but I've only confirmed this on FR - what about other versions? Is it wise to totally replace...
Interesting.
Again, however, is it even possible to do multiple region maps on Ruby? At the very least, for my project, this would be my primary concern.
Creativity
My programs are lacking because my major OS is Macintosh (my windows side lacks volume control), but on my desk are oodles and oodles of piles of papers, with everything from plot details to geography to music.
In sum:
Plot arc/dialogue writing
Music Composition
Mapping (tile...
5 of those complaints are music based, which can be edited. I, for example, and composing a fully original score for the hack I'm planning.
Visuals of the Pokedex and the Bike are two good reasons. Anything else worth noting?
Also, I think that multiple world maps is indispensable for people...
Very impressive. I've been looking forward to this for a very, very long time. Here, have an internet (I have a few spare).
"Chaos Rush obtained the Internet!"
*do-do-dle-loo do do do doooo!*
Now all I need are Gen IV Pokemon and my hack will be wonderful...
once I start it...
Incidentally...
1) 208x144 or 192x144? What makes the difference? The type of game?
2) The map cannot have more than 256 tiles? But the image you dumped off of unLZ has 320?
3) Can repeated "tiles" be rotations or reflections?
I think I need this bit clarified:
No more than 10 channels. Got it.
No more than 5 GBSynth, no more than 5 DirectSound (so, 5 of each for max channels). Got it.
No more than six simultaneous voices/notes...? Clarify:
Example time:
1) Say I have DirectSound instruments in my piece. However...
The Harmonics Collaboration...
is the groundwork for what I hope to be a team effort, composed of intelligent, mature and talented individuals, on a Pokémon hack. I'm founding this team for the simple reason that finding a preexisting team with all the things I'm looking for is downright...
