  • Naked Lunch is probably one of the less weird Cronenbergs, FWIW. Which says less about that particular film and more about just how batshit the rest of his filmography is! And yet Inland Empire beats anything that Cronenberg has done in the weirdness stakes. It is, by far, the weirdest work of narrative cinema that I've ever seen. It also contains my favourite Laura Dern performance, and I love me some Laura Dern, so that's high praise indeed.
I saw The Fly for the first time quite recently, sitting next to someone from my old job who proceeded to scream and gasp at every little disgusting thing. (And there were quite a lot of disgusting things in that one!) It definitely enhanced the experience for me, so if you have a squeamish friend, definitely watch it with him or her! That being said, Cronenbrg is someone whose earlier filmography I need to take a proper look into. Haven't seen Videodrome or Scanners or even some of the more recent ones like A History of Violence and Eastern Promises. That being said, Dead Ringers is creepy as fuck and highly worth a watch. Cosmopolis and Maps to the Stars, whilst also being a bit creepy as fuck, are not highly worth a watch.

And for David Lynch, it's alllllllllll about Mulholland Drive for me. And Inland Empire too, if you like your bugfuck nightmares to be three hours long and a mixture of garish YouTube-quality digital video and weird musical moments and talking rabbits.
hahahahahahaha i should be everyone's spirit animal let's be real

    or we're cats
Furthermore I am preparing an essential pub survival guide for an American such as yourself. You're welcome.
Okay, I have some feedback for you. Firstly, your report has no abstract. Your abstract, when you write one, should include an introduction to the topic, what you aimed to find, how you carried out your study, your findings and your conclusions and their implications. Consider including suggestions on further work to be done. Now, allow me to retort.

I am disregarding this on the basis that it uses &.

Thank you, although I will need to see a reference re: your attendance at his show in Soho and your contact with Sufjan Stevens therein.

I disagree. No-one should have more than ~8 posts on a Pokémon forum.

I am disregarding this on the basis that your username history includes "Mr. Silly", the silliest of all usernames.

People seem to enjoy conversing with me and I don't understand why. On rare occasion user Harley Quinn messages me, and I can't stand it when she touches me.

Needless to say, really. How I don't win that category in the "Member of the Year" popularity contest is far beyond me.

As somebody who has only been here for approximately 407 days, I am not sure how you are qualified to make this assessment. Please explain.

I do not needlessly unfriend people as I am not a total arse.

Contact info could make me some friends, and I don't need friends. They disappoint me.

I am disregarding this on the basis that it lacks a trigger warning.

I am glad that you have found it to be useful.

I see. Please list points of improvement.

I am sorry. My hand slipped and I will not be so careless again.

    shut up
Viridiana is by far my favourite Buñuel. I've seen Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoise, Belle de Jour, The Exterminating Angel and Un Chien Andalou and like them all, but there's something about Viridiana that raises it a step above for me. Maybe it's all the strident anti-Catholicism which is neither subtle or sparing. Maybe it's because it's the most outwardly 'normal' (although still verrrrrrry fucked up). I dunno. But I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
please i am Not Allowed not safe for work pictures on my profiel
Yeah, I think he'd like Synechdoche. I should probably give that one another go, as I was very conflicted on it when I saw it for the first time. I tried to get him to watch Viridiana but nothing as of yet. That's a good mindfuck for you both to watch!
I find it sweet how you were planning on watching it together. Presumably dropping acid at the same time and everything!
