  • It's not so bad once you get used to it. I have a tab open with my User CP (for subscribed threads) and another tab with all the new threads. Seeing how I'm subscribed to between one third and one half of all the current threads, I can just work my way down both lists simultaneously and get through all the new posts pretty quickly. There are usually between 25 and 50 threads that have received new posts every day (37 today). Once you throw in unapproved threads, reported posts, and responding to VMs & PMs, it adds up to roughly an hour, sometimes more, sometimes less. That's probably why so many Emulation moderators only last a couple months; it's a real chore. But luckily, unlike before, I actually get reports these days. There are a couple of members who are nice enough to report some of the SPAM (and one who, from what I can tell, reads almost every new thread :O).

But yeah, that's why I only log on once a day, sometimes twice. Any more than that and I get frustrated with how n00by most members are. I would wager that you get more intellectual-types over in C&M? Or, at least people who know how to spell "definitely" (I dunno why but apparently that's a really hard word for kids to spell :\).
    Oh, a challenge, is it?

Hey, Mr. Dog. Can I call you Cat? Well, Cat, I'm glad you found something helpful in the Japanese thread. I should really add more to that. I'm such a slacker. It makes me a little proud and happy knowing I'm helping. So... yeah. lalala I've seen you around recently and noticed your nice posts. You're one of the long lost early members, eh? What made you come back? Don't mind my rambling. I don't know what I'm saying half the time.
Don't sweat it. I can empathize with the spate of VMs that accompanies a new moderator (well, you're technically not new but you get the point). I'm pretty sure I got zero work done my first day because in the time it took me to respond to one VM, I would have three new ones to tend to. Hopefully things have cooled down by now.

Yeah, the blog scene here isn't great. It seems like people blog just for the hell of it. I don't post entries very often but I try to make them worthwhile and somewhat entertaining.

Haha, Emulation can be a handful sometimes. But I've been around the forum long enough to know its ins and outs. On an average day, I can get through all the new threads in about an hour, sometimes less if the server permits but that happens just about never. :D
    Oh, do you play?

I have to agree though, her current album far exceeds her first one. That doesn't mean there aren't songs that I don't love from 19 though. :]
The whole "do X every day" thing is just too much for me. I could maybe manage "greet 3 newbies" and "meet 3 people you've seen around" in these two weeks (or however long it is) but doing each every single day is a little ridiculous. Modding Emulation takes up a large chunk of my day, as is. :(

Well, it looks like you can add Culture & Media to that list. :D
Congratulations on that promotion. It's always nice to see old, experienced faces on staff. :)
