  • Yep, and in fact I have a job interview tomorrow! How about you? Still busy with education?
    Ok... I was able to create my own Kanto dex to increase it up to 190 as originally intended (again).

    What I did:

    Spearow line -> Swablu line
    Sandshrew line -> Drilbur line
    Paras line -> Shroomish line
    Venonat line -> Spinarak line (or Skorupi, but Kanto lacks a swamp route)
    Bellsprout line -> Seedot line
    Tentacool line -> Frillish line
    Doduo line -> Drifloon line
    Krabby line -> Dwebble line
    Omynite line -> Tyrunt line
    Kabuto line -> Amaura line
    Included all cross-gen evos for Kanto Pokémon (Sun Stone rep on Gloom's case)
    Added Ciccino line (Shiny Stone rep), Misdreavus line (Dusk Stone rep), Snorunt line (Dawn Stone rep), and Druddigon for #183-190
    The only part that is exciting about the Ming Dynasty is the fictional stories about that era.

    At least Spinda bear is happy!
    Yeah, and you can clearly see it in how sales have steadily declined since DP, hitting rock bottom with Generation 6. The main series games just don't have mainstream appeal anymore. GF has been catering way too much to the niche audience of hardcore competitive players, and it's alienated the far larger audience of casual players.
    The 1999-2000 Pokémania era brings back fond memories for me. ^^ I still remember watching the anime for the first time, and getting Yellow and a new GBC for Xmas in 1999. Also remember seeing the first two movies in theaters, and scouring flea markets for Pokémon cards, and buying all sorts of Pokémon toys and clothes, as well as all the mystery, excitement, and hype that surrounded the new Pokémon leading up to Gold and Silver's release.

    While the younger crowd have their own memories and nostalgia, it just wasn't the same after GS. By the time you got into the games, the Pokémania ship had long since sailed and the franchise had become nothing more than a niche hobby. Pokémon Go has literally generated more mainstream hype and interest than any Pokémon game released after GS.
    But I think you'd still like to try putting on the costume, despite the temperature. :P We were in a Ming Dynasty set, which is one of the most boring dynasty out there, imo. :P

    Always trying to support ya, heck I like reading your stories too! But I hate how my schedule doesn't cooperate. :( I'm close to ditching video games/Pokemon too due to time commitments with my job... Sigh...
    Well, I'm sure you've heard about how much Pokémon Go has completely EXPLODED in popularity. The game hasn't just been successful, it's actually brought back full-blown Pokémania. Major news outlets are suddenly talking about Pokémon again like it's 1999, and everybody and their mother wants to go Catch 'Em All.

    ...Which stands in stark contrast to the comparatively little hype and excitement that Sun and Moon have gotten. Even discounting the fact that GF has been extremely conservative about revealing new info for these games, there just hasn't been a whole lot of enthusiasm for these games, even compared to what XY and ORAS got. For supposedly being the big "20th Anniversary" release, the promotion for Sun/Moon has been minimal, and even many dedicated, long-time fans seem to be "meh" on the games.

    If the popularity of Pokémon Go is anything to go by, people want games that feel fresh and exciting. Pokémon Go took the basic idea first introduced in Red/Blue, traveling around to catch Pokémon, and gave it a complete makeover. Now, you can literally travel around in the real world (something fans have always fantasized about doing) to catch Pokémon. The game is both nostalgic and innovative at the same time.

    On the other hand, I haven't gotten any indication that Sun/Moon will do anything that previous games haven't already done. The fact that the games will be on the 3DS already means that they probably won't be a huge graphical and mechanical leap from XY/ORAS. And, the novelty of new Pokémon and a new region wore off eons ago, especially when GF keeps on repeating the same tropes and archetypes over and over again. What is there really left to be excited for anymore?

    GF should be very concerned about Pokémon Go, as the game could very well completely overshadow and destroy Sun and Moon. Seeing as Gen 6 already finished as the worst-selling generation ever, it would be bad news if Gen 7 suffered even worse sales. GF's lack of innovation may finally come back to bite them on the ass.
    Tired from my daily job, life like this is making one go numb. XD I've also tried going as an extra for a local TV network yesterday! Dear, it was extremely tiring, the ancient Chinese soldier costumes are awesome... But wearing them under the sun from dusk till dawn is one thing.

    That's great! Keep it up, I know you can make it big. You just need publicity. (:
    You know, I believe Tapu Koko is actually a legendary because of its guardian status and the fact it was shown to be genderless in a scene where it activated its ability while battling Litten (who was male, but then again starters are mostly male). The other islands might have guardians similar to Tapu Koko, but be Grass/Fairy, Water/Fairy and the currently unused Fire/Fairy, assuming they all keep the same theme as Tapu Koko.
    I hope so. Masuda has literally driven the franchise into the ground, and the games could badly use some new ideas.
    Anyways, I rewatched the starter reveal trailer and apparently I noticed the protagonist had his bracelet (aka the one shown in the artwork) when he met Kukui and when Hala showed him the starters. So could this mean we may actually have the bracelet from the start and not get it through progression like 6th Gen?
    I'm still interested in hearing about what that secret is surrounding Iwanko and the starters, or what the protagonists' bracelets do.
