Alistair is one of my faves too <3 in Inquisition, they are more passive aggressive towards each other, which makes pretty awesome banter
They do, they also get XP even if they're left at camp
Elf allienage is a pretty good intro! My favorite is Elf Dalish tho

Did you try them yet? The game's a bit slow (especially if you've played DA2 or 3), but the writing, story, and banter is amazing.
