I once bought one of the R4i Gold cards. Couldn't boot a single thing on it, from homebrew to ROMs. Good luck with it, I couldn't find a solution, so I returned it, got my money back, and ordered an M3DS Real instead. Everything works on that for me.

LaZ, May I make a suggestion? The problems and bugs MAY be caused due to the patch. Switch back to IPS, and make the patch to work with a specific version, and state which version it is. If it works fine for you, it's probably just a small mix-up.
