hah man i had the same problem. it took me about an hour to figure it out. i didnt face anyone except aj where the nugget bridge should be, u have to get the fishing rod in the cabin in frnt of the little fishing spot then what i did was jus used the old rod in the pond, sorta towards the middle...

When i battled brock the first time he only had a geodude then i lost, after healing my pokemon flint gave me a light ball, so battled again beat his geodude, then it showed all of brocks little sisters an brothers. then it went to a nother battle scene an this time he had an onix i beat it then...
