Definitly, May/Haruka and Harley. I think that all three of the main heroines(May, Misty, and Dawn) were pretty. Misty just didn't have very good taste in clothing(until the later seasons) ^^;

I'm pretty sure she did hug in once in the earlier episodes. Maybe she knows it embarrasses him. I can't really decide, but Oak did help him out a lot more.. but I wouldn't say one was more supportive of the other.
