If you can ignore Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and Pikachu, do 1000 backflips, throw your phone 10 miles in the air, all without your phone dying then you can start with Mew. Lol.

I hope Niantic doesn't decide to keep it random. I assume they will be aware of players dislike of the current eveelutions system if they aren't already. It sort of seems like Niantic is somewhat sour to the idea of sticking to close to the main games but maybe this will change in the future.
