So where I'm living I'm seen wild turkeys, rabbits, deer, and more birds than I can count (seriously a nearby bridge is a swallow hotspot). Yet not a single Pokemon... Pokespots and Gyms are in reach, but I have NEVER seen a wild pokemon unless I use an item. Is this common or am I that unlucky?

Also I have walked (well run) around the neighborhood and a nearby nature trail and nothing at all...

I've heard this can be an issue for some players living in rural areas or smaller towns etc. Until Niantic becomes aware of this issue and fixes it all I can suggest is that you might want to try walking around places like parks or downtown if they're within reach and try to help make Niantic aware of this issue so everyone can catch em all! Also do any Pokemon ever show up in the nearby tab?

I live in suburbia and I've noticed parks are fantastic places to find Pokemon also apparently Malls. More specifically areas surrounded by Gyms and Pokespots. Those have been good areas for me.

I have used both my incense (one was a waste since servers went down right after using it). It does work...

There are no Pokemon in the nearby tab. Ironically I am a short walk from 2 Pokespots, and a little further I've seen several Pokespots and several gyms but while over there I have seen no Pokemon. Its really strange to have all these landmarks but no pokemon.

I don't think it's uncommon for there to be 'dead zones'. I'm experiencing a good amount of them. Where I live, there are hardly any wildlings to run into. However, go into the centre of London and, as you'd expect, millions!
