Please tell me if this is fake!

These cards are all over Japan, the foil is an immediate giveaway. Also the fact that it's apparently "one in a handful", but the guy sold it to you for $1 :P

How do you protect your collection?

Side-loading binders are generally better than top-loading, but if you plan on travelling around with the binder it is still possible for them to slip out a bit. If it's your rarest cards that you just plan on keeping at home, then yeah, they'll probably never fall out of a side-loading binder...

Can't tell if this card is fake

The card appears to be real. Having a misaligned border is a common feature of pokemon cards, and the "washed out" colour is likely due to too much exposure to light. As a collector, I don't think most people would care about the border, considering it isn't a particularly rare holo. The fade on...

It is getting a bit more activity recently. Still, seems like mostly people with quick questions rather than regular posters. Not sure why, but it's always sort of been that way.

    Quick Questions Thread! [OLD]

It actually isn't that easy to find on the pokemon.com site, but each year they update the document stating what the modified format is under Play!Pokemon Rules and Resources. For this year, the format is Black & White and everything released after it. Nothing older than Black & White is...

Dunno? Maybe because I only post in the TCG section and it isn't very populated.

    Bench Strategy

Cards like pokemon catcher, raikou, and other snipe cards are the reason why it's better to keep a pokemon in your hand until you need to play it. If you are playing a stage 1 or 2 pokemon deck, you need to get them down in the first or second turn and evolve them fast. If you need to build up a...

    Strange Card or Accurate Fake?

Looks real to me. Are you comparing this card stock to very recent cards? Because historically, card stock was better in the neo era than it is now. You can tell by the way the holofoil on modern cards buckles the material so that they curl inward, whereas a neo holo tends to stay straight for...

Is this a rare card? Haven't seen anything like it

I'm just wondering, how do you know the two pieces go together?

Should I Get These Cards Graded?

I would actually grade those, but ONLY if you think they will receive a gem mint 10. You can get a discount for sending in many at once, I don't know the exact rates because it's an American thing but you can definitely email them to find out. And by "them", I mean PSA. For pokemon, PSA seems to...

my 1st edition charizard, error pros gtfih!

Miscuts are worth less than centered cuts. If you were to send the card in to be graded by PSA, they would deduct from the grade because of the centering. That being said, it's still a shadowless 1st edition charizard, so it'll still fetch a good price.

    Searched booster packs?

Even if the pack was "guaranteed" to have a holo in it through weighing (it isn't a guarantee), think about how much your average holo card is worth. The vast majority of holographic cards are not worth $10 or even half that. The problem with weighing packs is, what are you weighing them...

    Sigylph: The biggest anti-meta card

I feel like everyone has pretty much teched against sigilyph at this point. You'd have to go against a deck with only ex pokemon (i.e. bad deck) to really grind their deck to a halt.

    Drilbur EPO 54 is viable?

The wording is very clear, it seems like a perfectly legit strategy. I think it's balanced though, because you're gaining 30 damage every other turn in exchange for having a 70HP pokemon on your bench, a 120HP pokemon active who is susceptible to mewtwo, and two ex pokemon in play who yield four...

    Question about current sets

Every new set is a mix of a few generations. All of the Heart Gold Soul Silver sets have first gen pokemon in them, but with booster packs you will get other gen pokemon as well. Out of the Black and White sets, the first three (Black and White, Emerging Powers, Noble Victories) do not have any...
