Yea forgot to mention you need a Windows disk. I used a Windows XP SP2 Disk and I had SP3 on my computer. You can just borrow a disk of someone if you don't have it to build the disk.

Sounds like your hard drive has gone, but just to be on the safe side try using BartPE Builder. It creates a bootable operating system for pretty much every Windows operating system (not sure about vista) Note: It only works for 24 hours then you have to make a new disk. Link...

I use FireFox. It's just easier to use and can be more secure than IE (and we all know what happened).
