You might have confused decomp romhacking with binary romhacking. You don't "patch" roms when working with decomps EDIT: Oops someone already posted a response before i posted haha

trying to add other repo's ontop of the pokeemerald-expansion causes alot of merge conflicts. Doing the changes manually is also an option if the merge conflicts you get are in the houndreds

The ds pokemon games are with 3d models, so that could probably be possible somehow? I don't think that would look good tho
