Just chained a shiny caterpie last night. I named it Bullion.

Make sure you limit it to that you only want a steelix from the 90-100 range. That will cut down on the ninjas alot.

Mudkip as well as all the starter pokemon have a very low female gender ration. All I can say is just keep trying.
