if a game was doomed, why would it be getting multiple progress updates a week consistently then hm? oh right you wouldnt know because you think discord is cringe and yet, its used for a hell of a lot more than what you are clearly insinuating

Thing is, those "multiple progress updates a week consistently" are limited to a discord server and only shared IN that discord server and nowhere else. That makes it easy to be sceptical about the value or even the existence of those "progress updates", as if they were anything worth noting, they would undoubtedly be made more public to attract attention from people who are interested in this fangame.

Discord's cringe when it's used in this way, to have a group of "insiders" who gatekeep a project like a fangame and don't publicly open their project to scrutiny and criticism, but instead try to cultivate hype from behind closed doors and think that's a good strategy. I hope you get it now.

i mean its not like you have to pay to use discord, granted sure while it would be nice to see posts elsewhere i will give you that, but with this kind of thing being commonplace for a good while now and likely will remain as such for the forseeable future is the need for such hostility really that necessary? no, no its not

My point still stands. You have yet to counter my argument. AFAIC, it's not "hostility" to criticize shady practices and call a fangame out for the lack of any information or update in development/announcement that it's dead. If anything, you're the one trying to use hostility against me to censor me for speaking out against your discord pals lol.

the fact that u claim your statements are "simple facts" and not blind faith without providing definitive proof this is the case is all the counterpoint i need

and in all honesty, would it really kill you to suck it up and join a damn discord server just so you can stay up to date on the many fan games you consider "dead" when in reality you could very easily be further from the truth than your thick skull is even capable of comprehending

and the funny thing about your claim regarding fan projects being gatekept behind a discord server..................... you make it sound like you have to pay to join the server or to even download it after which fan game devs are fully aware of the ramifications they could face if they even tried to pull a stunt like that, FE is by no means exempt to this

Lol. Why should I bother joining a cringe discord server just to get updates on something that, if it was worth getting an update on, would be publicly posted? You fail to realize that some people have better things to do with their time. Well, clearly that's not the case with you. So enjoy your time on the discord and maybe tell those hard-working developers that their precious time is wasted as well, on a project that is fading more and more into obscurity as the days go by and it remains locked behind a discord server.
Logic 101 appears to be too hard a concept for both you and them to grasp, unfortunately.

i severely doubt their so called "precious time" is wasted considering how active their discord is, not just with the updates to the game but in general......... ad plus, joining the discord isnt really gonna do any harm to you, and the updates will simply pop up as a notification hat you can simply check it and go about your merry way which would take a good 5 or so minutes if that

The game development is absolutely not dead, and far from it. While someone speculates awkwardly about our communication choices, we are moving forward and caring about users who don't just complain on a forum. We are open to suggestions, but definitely not to aggression and misplaced clientelism. I'm actually surprised that a moderator hasn't intervened here.

We are working extensively on project organization to look beyond upcoming updates. We have over 25 people on the team, which requires a well-thought-out and regularly questioned organization to continuously improve.
It is precisely this work that will allow us to move forward, and if any pixel artists happen to be reading this, now is the time to join us and contact me because we have a lot of work ahead! 😂

We have chosen to focus our efforts on communication channels that reach a larger audience. As cybershaell12 mentioned, one of them is Twitter. We also have an Instagram account, YouTube, Facebook, and indeed a Discord.
From experience, we don't recruit mechanics at a car dealership. They are generally already taken, and it's not the game's target audience.

I usually don't even write messages (Yep, I m a person who looks here in the shadows...héhé), but I was shocked to read those last messages, and it's not the first time I see things like this on the Internet, so... couldn't help myself to answer. Even if Aerun just said it in a short way, I'll say it... in a long way ahah XD

All the games here, in this forum or other sub-forums- etc (not only the amazing "Forêt Eternelle" project that I follow updates careffully - Vive les créations françaises, niark ^^), are always made by passionate and (or XD) talented people, who give ON THEIR FREE time to make those... (Ouais, surtout qu'il vont avoir encore moins de temps à eux avec la réforme des retraites maintenant XD) and they share it with us !

YES, THEY SHARE IT. Because they don't have to, but they do... ! (You know ?)

Always remember this : they could do the whole thing on their computers in a private circle with some private friends and co-workers, and they could never-ever share it with the world !

So. Free and passionated time given and beautiful creations, I m right ? So... WHY THE F... (To be polite XD) there is, always, some dude NOT RESPECTING THAT ?

When people - wonderful, passionate... I repeat myself, yeah XD, give so much of passion and creation for FREE to all of us, we should respect it and not being immature or disrespectful about it, because that's called kindness and understanding for what they do... for free (Yes again repeating myself, but that should get in the heads of some people !!)

I m sick (and sad) of seeing creators, like Aerun, who are "forced" to justify theirselves to tell everyone their project is not dead ! Like those poor youtubers creators, sometimes they do videos just to explain things they said in a previous video thta caused some drama, because some "idiots" (Or immature ? Sometimes hard to tell) made a big deal of it. Know what I mean ?
But let's get back to Pokémon fangames creators.

They don't give much updates, much news, etc ? And they have been working on their games for years, and it's not finished yet, and you are not happy about it, huh ?
WELL, Just to know they exist and they do wonferful things they are planning to share with everyone in the future, you should be happy, and full of respect. I mean, some fangames will take years, and some others months to be made. And some will never be finishied ! But whatever happens, we should ALWAYS BE REPECTFUL AND GRATEFUL for all the creation, the intention and the sharing.
Even when a game is abandonned, that's a pity, but the choice of the creators of the game is like God's choice (If God exists XD). It's THEIR GAME. Their rules, etc. C'est la vie, that's all.
Yep, those people are people, and they also have a life, you know ? A REAL life, with sometimes a spouse, kids...or even, a job that is not making Pokémon Games at all ! XD

Sooorry for the speech ! XD I usually support Pokémon fangames teams in the shadows, not sending any messages. I was just a liiiiiiltle pissed with what I read, and had nothing to do with my sunday night, so... hum. XD

And I know I m not the only one who thinks all the things I said up there. And I also know those things have already been said, but... well, repeating it can't hurt, right ?

Oh. by the way, I personally don't mind beeing on many-many-many different Discord chanels, just to see how different update games or advancements are doing. I think, if you don't like having all the discord channels and everything, you can just have a file in the favorites of your internet browser, with all the links about the fan games you like, so you can follow what's going on with them arround the years ?

This way, you won't have to say in the face of the creators : "Lol. Why should I bother joining a cringe discord server", or things like that... or even that their project is "fading more and more into obscurity -blablabla" - Sooooo NOT nice things to say - mostlty when you don't have a clue about it !
Remember, they are the Gods of their game : it's THEM making the game, not you. ON THEIR FREE TIME (Yep, I like repeating that ! XD) and they are kind enough to share with us.
So they do whatever they want with the anouncements they make (On their Discord or not) if there's an update or news. That's fair enough, that's THEIR right ! Their game, their rights. And you're lucky enough you might play their game one day. POINT.

I know there was Pokémon fangames stopped (at least the release to everyone), because creators where, non-stop, asked "When is the last update ? I m not happy, when does it comes- blalblabla ?", or making comments like "Woow, this game is soooo dead !", all the time. Well guess what. It became dead, because of the pression. because of people like that, saying things they should have said in their head, instead of writing them on the forum, for the creators to see.

JUST... LEAVE THE CREATORS ALONE, For Fu*** sake ! Only bother them to CHEER on them, or just ask some questions with lot of respect... and no pression. Life itself is already a constant pression for everything, and they don't need it when they do something with passion and free time !

Aerun and the others, I hope you continue the good work, and with good feelings ! I personnally don't care if your game is out in 2025 or 2057, and I will never resent you if it never goes out ! I m just thrilled by all the creation and the passion you share with us already ! Thanks ! ^____^

I have sooooooo much amazing Pokémon fan games to play- and re-play thanks to creators like you. SO MUCH I might even die before I play them all (Or climate change will be much worse, and there will be no computers before, ahah XD well, I shouldn't laugh about that, hum)
