    Of course I'd still watch it! I don't think anime is cool simply because Japan made it. Heck, I really didn't even pay too much attention to Japan until after I discovered anime. I like anime because it has beautiful artwork and good plots and characters, not because a certain country made it.

    Hm, I wonder. If Japan made a 'random humor' cartoon like Spongebob or the Fairly Oddparents drawn the way americans draw cartoons, would people want to watch that? It's pretty much the same as America/Canada making Teen Titans (which is okay), Megas XLR (wtf?) or Totally Spies (HAHAHA-no). I suppose the thought of one country copying the other thinking "if it looks like it, it will sell like it" is a bit annoying, but I would like to see Japan's take on American cartoons XD.

    So, anyway, if anime was originally from Russia or Germany or even here I would still watch it if it had the same quality that Japan produces. If another country copies japan's style of art and stuff, it really just depends on how good they were at copying it. If it were an interesting show, I'd watch it.

    Honestly, where it's from doesn't mean as much to me as the content. I love all forms of animation, actually, and I'm kinda a sucker for comic book super hero shows and stuff (Justice League rocks my socks ^o^). Plus there's a lot of anime I don't like, so it doesn't matter to me where it's from as long as it's good.

    Well, technically, it wouldn't even be called "anime" in the first place coz it is a japanese word! I think...
    Actually, if you want to get technical... the Japanese word anime is a shortened form of the romanized English word animeeshon... meaning animation. So when the Japanese use the word anime it actually applied to anything animated regardless of origin. Outside of Japan, though, in most countries, anime refers to Japanese animation.

    Anyway... the major distinction I find between Japanese animation (from here on just anime) and animation from almost everywhere else in the world is that anime has... a plot. That seems like a rude thing to say, but if you think about it, it's normally quite true. With American cartoons, you can miss an episode or watch every episode out of sequence and still have a good idea of what's going on. Sometimes, you'll get episodes in which they're broken into two episodes and there will be a "to be continued" on it... but those tend to be very rare. With anime, each episode, for the most part, significantly adds to the plot and if you miss one, it's not the end of the world, but you'll still be rather confused. If you watch them out of sequence... you're pretty much screwed for lack of a better word.

    Kura mentioned animation. I've found that recently, I'm prefering the actual animation in American cartoons, in terms of fluid motion and art, are actually better than anime. I guess the animation just looks cleaner and less blurry. Though, that could just be the quality of anime that I've ended up seeing recently. Or maybe my tastes are just changing.

    If American cartoons could pull of the same plot and storyline aspects that anime can, then I would definitely watch them! It's not just the style that makes anime... I've found it's the plot. I mean... you look at some anime out there and you can only classify it as anime because of the style. Same with some American cartoons. o_o; *shrugs* So... I think what I'm getting at, is if it has a good or intriguing plot, then I'll watch it. It doesn't necessarily have to be anime.

    It depends... <<; t's all on the plot. I still watch Teen Titans, but it's not Japanese. xD; But I don't like the Japanese 'power rangers' much either. <<;

    But I prefer anime over cartoons. <<;

    Meh, its hard >.> I don't really watch american cartoons anymore (except for the simpsons, family guy, stuff like that) The only reason I don't is cause 1) It just tries to copy Anime or 2) Its really stupid with no plot as always. So I think, if Anime was from america (coughitwouldn'tevenbecalledAnimecough) lol then I probably still wouldn't watch it. The reason being is from the above lol (how the finished product turns out) It would just be like teen titans; over used Anime expressions and really stupid acting characters and stuff like that >__> Also they probably wouldn't have a good plot if it was american XDX3 Of course, we already know THAT lol

    Besides, the characters would probably look way different too. *imagines what brock would look like without the slits for eyes* eww..*dies* lol

    And think what Sasuke-kun would look like!! *dies again*
    Also Naruto would be different too cause sometimes he has slits for eyes just like brock lol (its kawaii ;))

    *imagines if Naruto was from america* o__O;; *dies*

    Well...Anime is Anime. I don't really care as long as it has a nice concept, and is drawn skillfully...
    *looks up on post before.*
    You still watch Captain Planet?! I thought I was the only one! ^_^

    I like the Japanese anime. But if there's a nice show that isn't anime, I'll still like it. I still enjoy Caption Planet (if that's the one with the powered rings), and Arthar.

    probably because they actually have plot that lasts pretty much through out the series, or season as you would call it.

    you hould read Lightning's post up there. That may explain why some of us watch Japanese rather than American. I personally like the art style in some of them too so meh.

    My question is why do you hate them? Just saying they suck without a reason is kinda spam...

    ??? Japanse shows suck! I think most of you guys here are American? Why do you watch those dumb shows?
    Because people like good plots...good music...good things in general? BTW, if something sucks, it's a matter of opinion.

    It doesn't matter what it is, I'll watch it if I like it. I'm a fan of animation in general and it just happens that most of what I like is Japanese. Though, I do watch anime from the islands and from America a lot. I watch what I watch, be it from Japan, France, America, where ever. As long as I like it, I'll watch it.
