I see, I see :)
I get the high-pitched voice when I'm talking to my boyfriend or people I know. Typically I don't notice it. My voice defaults to the normal when I'm serious or reporting on something. When I worked for Bell, I'd typically talk to strangers in a high-pitch because it seemed friendlier I suppose, although I didn't do it on purpose; the situation evoked that change. My teachers and care providers would call it the "baby voice" and discourage the behaviour, but it isn't anything I control, and it isn't for a short period of time. I literally will talk to that person all the time like that. In some cases, depending on what I'm talking about with them, it'll get even higher and "babier" and they complain lol that's why I wonder about it. They say it's abnormal.
When I speak French, my voice is always higher. Always. I can't speak in a lower octave in French. It's a bit odd in that respect.
As for kitties, I love kitties. I'll gnaw on my cats' ears and nuzzle her nose and cuddle her tummy. With my boyfriend, though, I'll even address him by saying things like, "Mya?" or by making a high-pitch sound in my throat that sounds like "eimm?" I'll also wiggle my nose at him and scratch his head and poke his nose with mine, much like a cat does.
The behaviour doesn't typically come out with anyone else. I guess I just find it affectionate. He finds it adorable, though, and generally calls me "kitty" as a result. He'll even text me "meow?" sometimes to see if I'm available lol or when his breaks start.
When I was a kid, I would always pretend to be a cat or something similar. I'd use socks as tails, and I was very "skilled" at running on all fours. Nowadays when I talk to little kids, I'll put my hands above my head and pretend to be a cat, even pawing my face like a cat does when it's washing itself.
I guess it's not a bad thing, but I sometimes wonder how his roommates view my behaviour lol and if the high-pitched voice bothers them.
