I'm not sure about Canadian education but college is basically any school where we go for 4 years trying to get a degree for whatever job we want to go into. Unless you're in med school which is like...8 years. And then again, you can go to a community college and do 2 years, then you can transfer to just about any college. Mostly cuzza if you don't do community college, you have to make it into a regular college, like get accepted. If you do comm. college, pretty much any college except the big ones like Harvard and Princeton will take you.
We only call it university if it's in the name, like University of Southern California. But they're still colleges.
