Nah man you don't suck. In fact it's completely the opposite. Even with the battle with just finished, even though you were loosing (I hope I don't sound arrogant by saying it like that) you didn't disconnect, you threw in the towel the proper way, and thereby ending the battle with honor, to sound a little poetic.
You have kept trying and the last two battles you have given me some surprises! I think what you really need to do is sit down and think together a really robust team, and then start battling a lot with that team without changing it. For example, I raised my Gyarados exactly two years ago, and it took me like 5 - 6 months before I really understood how to use Gyarados most effectively. Sometimes it's not so much the team itself, but how you use it. I am still not great with Salamence, but I'm working on it. This time you might have noticed that I have armed it with Flamethrower, instead of Fire Blast, as I got tired of it missing just when I needed it the most, Flamethrower is great for reliability. Which has proved to be a success. But still, what I am doing at the moment is to learn to anticipate an Ice Punch, and that takes a lot of time, because you need to know which Pokemon are likely to be armed with Ice Punch, just like I have learned which ones are likely to be armed with ThunderPunch or Thunderbolt and can counter those by using my Electivire. Takes time, but that's how it is with everything.
By the way, I also wanna thank you for actually giving me a chance to test Steelix's Thunder Fang, I just recently added that to his arsenal, as I needed something reliable to defeat Gyarados and other things.
