Back-story
Almia, a region known for peace and tranquility, have never been a place of conflict, and the people have been stereotyped by the other region's people as being laid back and content with life. While this is true, it has also been assumed that the region was also, for the most part, defenseless. These prejudice thoughts were brought to new heights thanks to Team Dim Sun's attempt to overtake the whole region and enslave their Pokémon. Even though the Pokémon Rangers intervened and put the organization to rest, the act paved the way for others to make their own attempt for control of Almia. With no Pokémon League of their own, the people of Almia relied heavily on the Rangers to keep their sovereignty. From small gangs, to highly funded Teams, the
Pokémon Rangers would time and again thwart these criminals tersely.
Eventually, it got to the point where the Rangers felt they were being stretched too thin, and that constantly defending the region started to take its toll on the operatives. In 2010 PokeCalender(P.C) The heads of the Rangers convinced the government of Almia to create a Pokémon league to assist them. While each town and city would have a Gym Leader and their trainee's to help assist the towns, traveling Trainers would also be able to assist when able or willing. The politicians hid this detail, and never mentioned it when promoting the League, as attacks on the state became less common after the Rangers' constant intervention, but it was an unspoken rule that all other League bearing regions had in place.

Sending advertisements in the form of billboards, commercials, and promotions in all regions, Almia made sure all trainers near some sort of media device knew of their new league. Many of Almia's youths, now being able to register without traveling to other regions, applied for their Trainer licenses. Special invitations were sent out to very high ranking trainers to become Gym Leaders and members of the Elite Four. Unknown to all, the efforts of the Almia government would prove to be a smart move on their part, as remnants of many groups defeated by the Rangers started to form together to create a Team unlike anyone has ever seen.
Pokémon Leagues
This RP will combine both the League from the games and the Anime. Once a year, starting in May, the Pokémon League in every region will begin. Trainers will go from gym to gym to collect badges. Once enough qualifying badges are collected, trainers may compete in the Pokémon League. The finals are held for three days at the end of March. The first day is an elimination challenge that whittles the trainers down to 160 trainers. In the second day, the 160 are then sent through another elimination challenge until there are only 10 left. On the third day, the ten take turns challenging the Elite Four to consecutive battles much like in the games. Each Trainer gets one chance to do so, and must pick their items and Pokémon carefully. If a trainer is able to defeat the Elite Four, they will be crowned Champion. If more than one person manage to defeat the Elite Four, those Trainers must then battle each other until all but one is eliminated, and will then be deemed the Champion. The League Finals in Almia will take place at the Pokemon Ranger School's field.

Trainer Story
This is where you come in. It is the start of spring, and the Pokémon League's of all regions have finally ended, and the next batch is due to start in the next month. Last year was when you first started as a trainer, and you learned a lot from your past experiences, regarding Pokémon Training and life itself. You entered a League championship, but failed to become one of the lucky few to qualify to face the Elite Four. A little saddened, but not discouraged, you pick yourself off your feet and decide to try again. You returned home to take a break from training to rest your weary head. By reading the paper, watching TV, or surfing the web, you got wind of Almia's knew League that they have started. Wanting to take part in the historic first Almia League, you decide that's where you'll head to instead of the other Leagues. Alternatively, you may also be an Almia native, and have just started your very first adventure.
Gym Leader & Elite Four Story
~~~Sign ups for Gym Leader and Elite Four are closed.~~~
Spoiler:
Your story is much different than that of the beginning trainers. You've been a trainer for a few years now, and have a fairly high reputation as a trainer in your hometown and the areas surrounding it. You're experienced and have built a team consisting of the strongest team you could assemble from years of catching and raising. You may even have developed a preference for a particular type. During one of your attempts at the League, you fought your way to the top and earned your right to fight the Elite Four. Through rigorous battling, you stood victorious and were crowned Champion, joining the ranks of those who earned the title before you.
A month ago, after the Leagues finished their ceremonies, you received a special letter in the mail. The contents of the letter asked you to become either a Gym Leader or Elite Four member in Almia. With some thought put into it, you accept and begin packing your things. After a short seminar and meeting the other Gym Leads and Elite Four members, you prepare for the coming League Challenge. If a Gym Leader, you start to set up your Gym to your liking, accepting trainees, and getting to know your neighborhood. As a member of the Elite Four, you have to oversee the development of the Gyms, ensure that the matches and challenges Gym Leaders set up are fair to the Trainers, as well as take a heavy part in the set up of the Championship at the end of the year.
Starters
Depending on your region, you may have a different starter. If you do not like the region specific starters, or come from a region not mentioned below, it is acceptable to have a common Pokémon as your starter. If you want an uncommon or rare Pokémon, please send me a PM with the type of Pokémon and why you should have it. The staff reserves the right to make exceptions providing there is good reason.
Kanto
Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Pichu, Eevee
Johto
Cyndaquil, Chikorita, Totadile, Togepi, Mareep
Hoenn
Torchic, Treeko, Mudkip, Elekid, Zangoose
Sinnoh
Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Shinx, Liketung
Almia
Magby, Oddish, Horsea, Magnemite, Abra
Character Template
The Trainer class has the least amount of detail to go into, as they have less information needed to be accepted. There is no length limit for any field, providing you give enough information to pass for human, but the more detail you go into, the better.
ALSO POST YOUR CHARACTER SHEET IN THE OOC TOPIC.
Name: What's your name?
Age: At least 10 and the limit is 90. If you want to be a trainer who travels around with a walker and oxygen tank, who am I to say no?
Trainer Class: Trainer, Gym Leader, or Elite Four?
Blood Type: It may seem rather random, but you never know when you're gonna need a blood donor. :P
Ethnicity: What race are you? Irish, Dutch, Chinese, Egyptian etc. You can me more than one.
Favorite Color: Self explanatory. I will cut myself if someone gets this wrong. (Don't answer incorrectly on purpose. :P )
Birthplace & Hometown/Region: If birthplace and hometown are the same, you can just write it once. Example of which would be Pallet Town, Kanto instead of Pallet town Pallet Town, Kanto.
Physical Appearance: I'm looking for Eye color, natural skin color, current skin color (i.e. how tan are you.), natural hair color, current hair color (if dyed.), hairstyle, height, weight, how much muscle, physical traits.
Apparel & Accessories: Do you have a hat? Are your nails painted? What type of shirt, jacket, skirt, pants you have one? Any jewelry? How often do you change clothes?
Personality: Describe your character's personality. Are you funny? Are you cynical? What makes you mad? Have any fears? That sort of thing is what I'm looking for.
History: You should at least include your childhood. How nurturing the family was, any siblings, family's class (upper, middle, lower, etc.), schooling, how you became interested in Pokémon, which League you took part in and your best results.
Goals: Whatever your character wants to accomplish in life, be it regarding Pokémon or something else entirely.
Starter: What Pokémon did you start with?
Gym Leaders & Elite Four
Spoiler:
If you're applying to be either a Gym Leader or Elite Four member, keep in mind that you will be have been the Champion at one of the Regional League's finals. As such, I'm expecting more information from you to put into your history. You'll have to include why you were picked, such as a specific trait that you can teach other trainers, or if you've mastered the art of a specific type of Pokémon. Gym Leaders must also add the following to their character form:
Spoiler:
Years Champion: Include how many years your character has been a Champion, and which region. Example of which is 17 years ago - Sinnoh
Gym Layout & Challenges: Describe the exterior of the Gym, the interior, and what kind of puzzle must trainers solve to earn the right to face you.
Badge: Name of the badge and what it looks like
Type: What type do you specialize in? Note that this does not have to mean having to use only one type. You can specialize in Pokémon with name's containing the letter Z if you really wanted to.
(Optional) Winning Reward: Do you give out a special reward after a trainer is skilled enough to beat you? If so, what is it?
Pokémon Team
You may have between 1-6 Pokémon with you at a time, and you do not have to include your starter. You may not have a legendary, but rare Pokémon are acceptable. All that is required for each Pokémon is the following:
Species
Nickname (Optional)
Gender
Nature (Optional)
History (Optional)
Please NOT include a move set or level. This will be explained further down. Also, I don't care if you want a specific Pokémon to be shiny, but I'll limit the shininess to two per RPer, so collectively all your characters will have a total of two.
Battling
Battling will be a little different from that in the games. For simplicities sake, we won't have a permanent move set or deal with levels. You'll have unlimited access to all the moves your Pokémon learns naturally (excluding eggmoves and tutor moves.) During the course of each battle, you can only use four of the moves. If you switch your Pokémon out and then back in, you'll still only have access to the first four moves. You don't have to state the moves in the beginning of the match, and may reveal them throughout the course of the battle. Keep in mind that moves like solar beam will take some time to charge, and will leave you vulnerable for a whole phase.
HM's won't be used. If you have a Pokémon that can fly and support your weight, then you can use fly. Some Pokémon, despite having wings are unable to learn fly in the game, but we'll allow it here providing the Pokémon in question is large enough to carry you. (Sorry butterfree. :( )The same goes for strength and surf etc. You may also use the moves in battle, but like in the game, they're not very strong. TMs are a different all together. If you want one of your Pokémon to use a specific TM, you must get staff permission. Once approved, it will always be one of your four moves until you delete it. Note that if you ask for a TM move and then have your Pokémon forget it fairly quickly, you won't be approved for another. Also to make the game fair for all, no combining moves.
If your character won a TM from a Gym Leader, you may use that TM once at your own discretion, although you will never be allowed to apply for the TM after it's use. Also, Gym Leader's who give out a TM are allowed to have one of their Pokemon know the move, but no more than that.
Battling will take place as such: the Rpers decide who will go first. In the case of Gym Leader or Elite Four Battles, the trainer will always go second, so they may choose a Pokémon best suited for the job. The second trainer, after launching his Pokémon, orders an attack. The first trainer will then RP a response to the attack(be it Rping damage or an evasion) and retaliate with their own attack. This will continue until either of the trainers switches Pokémon, forfeit, or the Pokémon faints. If a Pokémon faints, the trainer must then send out another and then make an attack. An example of which is as follows:
RPer 1:Bill sends out Charmander.
Rper 2: Todd sends out Squirtle and used Tackle.
Rper 1: Charmander braces for the impact, and is knocked to the ground, with the weight of Squirtle's heavy shell putting pressure on his body as he is sandwiched between the turtle and the ground. Bill ordered Charmander to use scratch, and the fire lizard manages to free one arm and use its small claws to cut the top of Squirtle's head.
Double battles consisting of one trainer on each side will flow the same as the above, except with each post having actions for both of their Pokemon. Double battles with two trainers on each side will alternate from Team 1 Trainer 1, to Team 2 Trainer 1, to Team 1 Trainer 2, to finally Team 2 Trainer 2, and then back to Team 1 Trainer 1.
Other Rules & Information
1. Read and follow all the rules for PC, the Roleplay Area, and this specific RP.
2. No Godmoding or Bunnying. Godmoding is having your character or Pokémon become invincible and never losing or getting hit. It also includes your character having information that they shouldn't have that the RPer does. Bunnying is controlling someone else's character without permission. If you give someone permission to use your character, please inform a Staff member to ensure that person isn't warned by the Staff.
3. Have some skill in the field of spelling and grammar please. You don't have to have everything perfect, just make it legible. Microsoft Word is your friend. Also, there is no minimum word or sentence limit providing you can progress the story.
4. Make a post at least once every four days. If you can't be active, please don't sign up. Exceptions will be given for those going on vacation or moving etc.
5. Three characters to a person maximum.
6. You may RP a shopkeeper and random villagers for small segments, but the Staff will be the ones to give you side quests.
7. Play nice & have fun.
8. To help with this RP, there will be a designated Second in Command (or SiC) who will help with the moderation of the RP. Both of us will collectively be referred to as the Staff.
9. OOC stuff & applications go in the OOC topic.
10. There will not be a limit to the amount of people allowed to participate, although there will be only five Gym Leaders and four Elite Four members. Everyone else is allowed to be a normal trainer.
11. For right now, I've excluded Coordinator from being an applicable class. If enough people do wish to add it in, I will incorporate it.
12. There has been some minor problems with what constitutes as natural eye and hair color. Please use only actual colors for natural eye and hair color. If you want funky looking eyes, keep in mind that those of you with really light eyes will be extra sensitive to sunlight(same with red eyes). This disadvantage won't be a problem to people with Green or Blue eyes, but Red eyes will have more difficulty in the open. If you want any other wierdly colored eyes (like purple,) you can have contacts that make your pupils look that way, but they won't actually be purple. Same goes with the hair. Blue, green and purple aren't natural, but you can dye it.
