6th Gen New Abilities Speculation Thread!

This may sound dumb, but an ability that whenever the Pokemon comes out during rain, the Pokemon gains speed by two stages but loses accuracy by one stage. Like they slide on the rain which makes them faster, but since it's slippery they have trouble landing hits.

I wish that there is an ability that is like, an instant perma trick room.

That would be awesome~

Yeah but way annoying for us who lose to TR a lot. XD; But it'd still be pretty awesome.

idk, that sounds a lot similar to Swift Swim. And that's overpowered enough lmao. :(

Hopefully they get creative with the abilities if new ones are to be introduced. I made up a couple of my own that I think sounded kinda cool:

Priority Check - speed cannot be lowered, this pokemon takes half the damage from all priority attacks used against it.

Lockjaw - all biting attacks (Bite, Crunch, Poison Fang, the Elemental Fangs) have an increased critical hit ratio.

Dreamchaser - the user receives half damage from physical attacks while asleep. User's attacks do double damage on a sleeping pokemon.

Free Runner - speed is doubled when HP falls below half.

Cautious - user receives half damage from entry hazards when entering a battle. Hazards cannot be set while this pokemon is in battle.

Those are pretty simple enough I guess. I'd like to see more abilities that focus on damage resistance, or maybe some that are type specific.

Vitamins - When the opponent's HP is drained (Absorb, Leech life, Drain Punch, etc) the user gains more HP. Like a big Root, without having to hold the item. OP fer shur.

Like Minded - If the opponent is the same type as the ability holder, Pokemon with ability's best stat is raised one level.

idk, just some OP stuff i've been thinking of. I'd really enjoy Vitamins or something like it. <3

An ability where Pokemon where opposing pokemon could not use their items could come in handy or be a hassle, depending on the circumstance.

So like a Klutz curse somewhat?? I can see it being a ghost ability, kind of like Mummy but I'm not really sure how much it can do unless you're trying to burn something or facing a Harvest user, or being too strong in general...? Okay it can have its uses, but I prefer Klutz tbh because of Switcheroo.

New abilities speculation?

Idk but I was just thinking of exciting types i would like to see in pokemon and x and y

Rubber Skin:
Gives immunity to electric type attacks

Sticky Acid:
If this pokemon is attacked by physical moves the attacking pokemon recieves leeched damage for three turns

Post any ability ideas you would like here!

Dark Aura
If this pokemon is attacked the pokemon it is battling becomes a dark type

Rubber Skin already kind of exists, with Volt Absorb, and Lightningrod and Motor Drive. :(

As for the last one though, that could be interesting if dark actually was associated to shadow types, or something evil, so it might be likely.

What if chlorophyll stops being an ability and becomes a permanent feature of all grass pokemon? I mean, all grass pokemon have their speed doubled under the sun in the same way that all fire attacks get a boost under the sun.
That would let grass pokemon get another useful ability.

The idea of making Chlorophyll's effect coupled in with Sunny Weather sounds very good and allows for plenty of opportunities for Grass-types to gain new and useful abilities.

Adaptable - The Pokemon's type changes to a type that is resistant to the opponent's.

Loud Mouth - Sound moves used by this Pokemon have their power increased by 1.5x

If they add more Sound based attacks that deal damage this would be nice. As it is now only Bug Buzz, Chatter, Echoed Voice, Hyper Voice, Relic Song, Round, Snarl, Snore, and Uproar would gain a boost. Before Gen 5 there really weren't that many damaging Sound based attacks.

Some issued would come in with what would be where. Chatter and Relic Song are struck through because of exclusiveness. I don't see them giving Chatter out anymore due to the reason of its banning from competitive play. Bug Buzz and Snarl are exclusive to Bugs and Dark Types/Dog like Pokemon.

Course Whismur Line would come in and be all STFU against any Pokemon relying on that kinda ability. I can see Sound Based move nullifying items appearing for the same reason.

A held item called Ear Plugs would serve to null one Sound-attack, as Absorb Bulb does for Water moves.

Hyper Voice is actually prevalent in a lot more Pokemon now thanks to B2W2's move tutor, so hopefully that will carry over.

I've been thinking about a Poison Rain ability that damages all non poison types etc. Give it other abilities like Hail and Sandstorm have. Of course this is different from what was already suggested in this thread. I don't want it to change normal rain, just cause Poison Rain to fall, like Sandstream and Snow Warning.

Hm... I'm actually thinking about some other new type of ability called Flame Absorb, which works in the same way as Water Absorb and Volt Absorb, but instead recovering HP whenever a Pokémon uses a Fire-type attack against the Pokémon that has Flame Absorb.

I'd be for this. :)

Way too strong imo. OU would literally be full of fast mons and certain things might end up banned that aren't already in my opinion. ;(

An Ability that lowers oppents pokemons acressacy by 10% for there next move, if your move lands before theres.
I like this. I can see it being used in a similar way as "White Smoke" where instead of preventing stat deduction, it creates a heavy cloud of dust, mist, smoke, or fog (depending on the Pokémon) around the opponent and lowers their ability to land a clear move against you.

An ability called "great learner"
All the attacking moves this pokemon learns through TMs get stab.

For meowth-persian

It has low attack (70) and special attack (65) so it would not be overpowering, and it could make sense, after all it is the only pokemon that managed to learn to talk like a human.
