Protectors of Chihara

FAQ is at the 2nd post

Chihara

The region of Chihara is a man-made island off the coast of Johto and Kanto. For five years, Pokemon and Humans alike have worked together to build this land from a single island, which is now in the center of this developing region. Representatives from the four regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh compose the government of this region.

Migration to the continent is closely monitored and there are strict procedures to enter and leave the region for items and Pokemon. The relationship between Human and Pokemon is close, as the only natural ecosystem in the region is in the center-most island, isolated by protective groups and natural barricades.

For a time, not a single crime was committed in the land of Chihara, but all good things must come to an end. At the turn of the 6th year, a mysterious group of people arrived to Chihara, drenching the once-peaceful land into chaos. The Defense Force of the region is inexperienced, failed time and time again against the crime organization whose objective is unknown. That is until the appearance of the Saviors.

The Saviors and the Naissance

With the appearance of the Naissance, the Saviors are the last and most effective line of defense Chihara against the devilish plots concocted by the organization.

Both forces have special abilities that can compete against Pokemon. The Saviors wear uniforms reminiscent of certain Pokemon species, while the Naissance's transformation is a bizarre mix between Human and Pokemon with even more feral characteristics.

The Saviors

As a group dedicated to keeping the peace in Chihara, the Saviors is a band of trainers who have the ability to transform into superheroes. Outside of fighting against the Naissance, they are said to live normal lives.

The life of a Savior is one filled with rife. They keep two identities to separate themselves from their ordinary lives as Pokemon Trainers, and the peacekeepers of Chihara. Oftentimes, these two lives clash with one another, leading to turmoil inside of themselves. As such, not many of the chosen Saviors stay for long.

The strengths and weaknesses of the Saviors are balanced between its members and come in two 'themes', so to speak. The Aigis, and the Meister.

The Aigis are more Physically oriented than Meisters. They can take more damage than Meisters and is in the forefront of every battle. They are also more emotionally stable, suffering from less penalties than their counterparts as they fight and juggle two lives. Aigis can also combine their weapons together with other Aigis, and so their strength lies on their perseverance and teamwork.

The Meisters are more Mentally oriented than Aigis, but cannot take as many hits as Aigis. They rely on speed and maneuverability to get themselves out of sticky situations. Meisters are specialists and can more easily access their Aura both in and out of battle, their special attacks are also quite fearsome, but in turn they suffer more from their opponent's attacks and their abilities rely highly on their morale.
.

The Naissance

The Naissance is a group originally from the Kalos region. Their true purpose is unknown, and harbor a deep secret that even their own members do not know about, but they aim to destroy the government and the region of Chihara. Their powers are an even match against the Saviors, if not surpassing them.

Even today, little is known about them, and what knowledge the populace have about them are from field operatives. Though there is bound to be more, the Saviors know of only three operatives that are replaced each time one is defeated permanently.

Queen - The strongest known field operative. Her attacks are deadly, capable of matching two Meisters in an ordinary day. Is theorized to be the leader of the field operatives.

Jack - The fastest known field operative. His quick speed outmatches every Aigis recruited by the Saviors, and he is no slacker when it comes to attacks.

Joker - The trickiest known field operative. Their abilities are unknown, and their parameters change from one Joker to another. According to one Joker, it is said that they operate separately from the other two.

Story so far:

It has been two years since the Saviors and the Naissance first clashed, and since then the two forces have been in a deadlock. The Naissance's plots have been thwarted left and right, allowing the citizens to live relatively normal lives. At the same time, The Saviors have made no progress in uprooting the Naissance from the region.

Eventually, the Naissance decided to step up their operations, implementing a plan that, should it have succeeded, collapse the growing government of the region. Luckily, the Saviors got wind of the plot and moved to opposed them, resulting in a the largest fight between the Saviors and the Naissance to date.

The end was catastrophic. The Saviors managed to learn that the Naissance is after an artifact native to Chihara, but have yet to discover what it is. They also managed to finish off the majority of its underlings, dealing the first real blow against the group. It didn't come without a price however, as only one two Saviors escaped the fight with their lives.

With the battle, a stalemate has developed between the two forces, the Naissance fading into obscurity for a year, gathering their strength for the next battle. The Saviors must regain their number if they even want to have a chance to stand up against the Naissance again.

But Naissance will not rest for long. The time has come for the only remaining Savior to choose the next Saviors and train them. Discreetly, the Savior sent out invitations to five people with the potential, hoping that they will take up the harsh role as the next Protectors of Chihara.

What to expect of this roleplay

Typical Shonen/Shoujo tropes. No, really. As you might expect, this is a Power Ranger/Magical Girl role play in the Pokemon world. If you've seen Sailor Moon, Power Rangers, Card Captor Sakura, then you'll know what to expect of this role play.

The twist here is that both sides are controlled by the players. A Savior may make a Face-Heel-Turn, and a Villain may turn to the good side, it all relies on the players. If you have plans for your character, Message me and I'll help you implement it into the game.

As for the NPCs, important NPCs such as the Defense Force, Government officials, Pokemon Professor are all controlled by the GMs unless the players have proven themselves capable to manage other characters while keeping them in-character, and with permission from the GM.

Like all stories of this Genre, not is all as it seems. The Naissance does have a goal, what it is will be revealed in due time. This is a Chapter-based Role play, so certain objectives must be completed to proceed with the story. One thing in common among them is that the Saviors and the Naissance must clash at least once every chapter, and whoever wins in that chapter will influence future events.

When fighting, expect that aside from a well-motivated Meister, a one-on-one fight between Naissance and the Saviors will end with the Naissance on top. This is also a Narrative story, but the characters have 'stats' for character comparison. If a C Strength Savior is in a deadlock against a B Strength Naissance, the Naissance will win in a straight-up fight.

With that, good luck. Craft your own story!

Rules and Guidelines

- As usual, follow Pokecommunity rules. If the need arises, I may permit you to double post, at your own discretion.
- The roleplay is PG-13. No unnecessary gore. Romance and Death may be implied.
- This will be chapter-based, the story will progress once the players complete the necessary requirements.
- You may create supporting NPCs and may control them, but refrain from doing so if possible. The GM(s) may control them if they see fit.
- The Player Characters may have Pokemon too.
- The Player Characters have lives and stories outside of the Saviors and the Naissance.
- The game is run by a mix of stats and narration.
- Stats are dependent on the Pokemon Gijinka you choose, and is optimized by the GM.
- The story is dependent on the players.
- One way or another, the Saviors will be involved in the Naissance's plots no matter how they try not to involve them.
- Stats will be modified by the character's mood and states.
- Wild Pokemon encountered may only come from the first four generations. Special exemptions may be made with permission from the GM.
- The setting is on a man-made region south of Johto and Kanto.
- The residents know about the fight between the Saviors and the Naissance, but do not know their true identities.
- As a Savior, you may choose your uniform, may it resemble a Power Ranger's bodysuit, or a Magical Girl's Seifuku. Color of eyes and hair may change. Naissance are true Gijinkas with a more 'wild' appearance.
- Your Character's Transformation may not Evolve.

Q: Is there only one of every rank? (i.e. One Jack, One Queen, One Fire Aigis?)
A: Yes, only one of each. More 'ranks' appear as the RP progresses. An example would be Naissance's "Knight"

I don't see why not. However, to be fair for others, I'll only allow a maximum of three days.

Yes, there is only one of each. They may be replaced, but there is only one of them active at a time. Having two Queens would make things difficult for the Saviors.

More kinds of Saviors and Naissance will make their appearance in the future, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

You might wish to apply a font color as with the theme I am using the color of the font is basically the exact same--if not, literally--as the background and the majority of your post is unreadable.

I'm sorry for that then.

I chose this color since most of the themes I did chose worked well with this, whether they're dark or light colored.

What theme ARE you using, if I may ask?

You have that font color specified currently in your main post? Because I see it as this:

To answer your question I'm currently using Yggdrasil.

Hmm? Nobody wants the Queen? I'd expect that to be the first to go... aside from the Fire Aigis, because everyone wants to be the Red Ranger.

Anyway, reservations are approved, with 3-day limit.

Edit: Oh, I see. Wait, I forgot to add that bit. Let me edit that...

Not gonna lie, I read the title as "Magical Girl" at first. I see now that's not far off from the premise. Can I reserve the Grass Aigis, please? I'll get cracking on my SU.

That was fully intentional on my part.

And sure, I'll save you a spot.

You people are lucky, I'm normally not online on Wednesdays. Anyway, if there are any reservations, I'll save you a spot, even if I didn't post one saying so. If we went past the 8 player limit... well, I'll think of something.

Still, there are three non-reserved spots still available. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Ok. I lied in that VM. Can I reserve the queen? This roleplay is just too good to not get involved in.

Name: Wilhelmina Ellwood
Codename: Frost Vixen
Age: 8
Gender: Female
Profession: Schoolgirl / Coordinator
Appearance: Even considering the fact that Wil is only eight years old, she is still a bit small for her age, coming in for a total height just under four feet. Long blond--almost white--hair travels the length of her back, having been braided into two tight pigtails that flow loosely behind her as she walks. From behind her slightly upturned nose, a pair of icy blue eyes seem to always be staring directly into your soul, largely void of any emotion. Thin lips are usually pursed into a small frown, but occasionally open to reveal of set of perfectly white, albeit not fully developed, teeth.

Wil dresses in a variety of different clothing, usually it happens to be elegant dresses that are befitting of a princess or some other form of royalty. She tends to stick towards lighter colors like baby blue, pink, pale green, and plum. But she is occasionally known to foray into into more vibrant colors such as dark orchid, yellow green, and even orange. The most common is the light blue dress. These tend to be gowns that have some sort of support to open the bottom, and while most would assume this is for looks its actually because it makes it much easier to conceal thinsg from other people. She always has the perfect jewelry to accompany her gown--be it an emerald tiara with silver trim for a green dress, or an amethyst amulet with golden trim for one that is purple. She always has a simple silver band on her left pinky finger which doubles as the signet for official orders.
Personality: Wil is a sadist through and through. The emotional turmoil of others is something that she enjoys very much. Especially if she was the one to cause that. For a variety of reasons she is for all intents and purposes a remorseless, psychotic sociopath. Completely unhinged, her outwardly sweet demeanor and innocent mannerisms are merely a front--an outward appearance designed to deceive and manipulate others into dropping their guard. She takes nearly everything personally and is highly vindictive, willing to completely destroy someone's life for even the smallest of transgressions against her. As a result, she is highly impulsive, especially when she believes she has been offended. As a result, she is almost never seen without her aide, who winds up being the target of her aggression when it must be kept in check; which as the case happens to be, is almost always. Still, she doesn't feel bad for the man at all, despite how much effort he puts forth into maintaining her secret identity among other things. In fact, she downright despises this man perhaps more than anything, only listening to him out of necessity. There are often times, however, when she completely overrides this man and continues to do as she pleases. In most of those cases it results in other members of the Naissance having to remove her from the situation often by force. Despite her hot headed attitude however, she has managed to refrain from revealing her secret identity to the public at large. Those who have seen it were promptly dealt with.

While she is the "leader" of the Naissance Wil hardly has a head for strategy. Most such decisions are left for her aide, who is already busy enough at is. The ability to control a powerful organization is something that he gladly will hold the reins for. He is very careful, however, not to anger Wil as she is still technically the leader and anything she says will in fact supersede him. But apart from a general lack of aptitude for leading, she also has a genuine disinterest in all aspects of leading--that is, apart from telling people what to do. She will always gleefully command others. It angers her to no end when people do not take her seriously because of her age or stature; more than one member of the Naissance has met a swift end when they did such. Everyone is entirely replaceable to her except for her aide, the only member of the Naissance she has actually bothered to remember by name; she simply refers to others by demeaning nicknames such as "giant green dumdum" or something to that affect that makes it clear as to who she is talking to.

Despite all this, Wil is not someone to be trifled with. Anger her and she will make sure that you regret it.
History: A little girl
Allegiance: Naissance
Position: Queen
Gijinka Species: Froslass
Ability: Snowcloak

Moveset: Ominous Wind, Pyschic
Weapon of Choice: When transformed, her claws. Otherwise in emergency situations small knives and/or kunai.

Transformation Sequence: "To bring forth the wickedness of my heart; the blizzard that storms within emerges." Wil crosses her arms as if being laid to rest. As she does a giant crystal of ice briefly forms over her, obscuring the figure within. As she emerges, she is transformed.
Transformed Appearance: Image! When Wil undergoes her transformation, her hair turns to a snow white color and grows noticeably shorter with long bangs framing her face. Her skin grows pale and her lips gain a light shade of blue to them. Frost overtakes her face while her ears become noticeably more pointy. Ice crystals form in her hair. The dress that she wears turns into a white and blue kimono with a large red ribbon tied around her waist. She grows taller, and her arms get longer, fingers instead becoming wicked claws.

Likes: Bossing people around, tea parties, her dolls, and the cold.
Pet Peeve: Being told what to do. Even if not a literal command such as someone telling her to calm down. Similarly, when people don't follow her orders. And of course, when people poke fun of her for age/stature.

*Mamoswine
*Weavile

Here's my SU! Hope you like it!

Name: Abby Sparrow
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Profession: Farmer

Appearance: A toned, tanned girl, Abby stands 5' 6", with long legs and lean muscles. Her dark brown hair reaches to her shoulders, and is kept in a ponytail almost constantly. Her bright green eyes seem magnified behind her black square-rimmed glasses.

You'd be hard pressed to see her in anything but her green plaid shirt and blue jeans. She wears her shirt open, with a simple white tank top underneath. She wears brown work boots on her feet and a brown Stetson on her head.

Personality: Anyone seeing Abby at work would think she was a down-to-earth, practical person who doesn't like to play around. But that's when she's working, and it takes all her concentration to stay on task. She's really very fun-loving and energetic, and loves to run and play with things. She can be a bit slow on the uptake sometimes, and easily distracted. She's not afraid to speak her mind, no matter how it makes her look or someone else feel.

History: Born in Violet City, Abby was raised by her single mother. She had a normal enough childhood, until she was eight years old. Then, she was sent to Goldenrod to live with her rich aunt and uncle and get a proper education. When she was ten, her mother moved to Mahogany Town to work on her mother's Berry farm. Abby moved with her, leaving school behind to help out around the farm.

When she turned 18, Abby traveled with a shipment of Berry trees to her cousin's farm on Chihara, to help plant them and tend to them. She ended up staying, and has lived and worked there ever since.

Allegiance: Saviors
Position: Grass Aigis
Codename: Guardian Flora

Gijinka Species: Bellsprout

Transformation Phrase: "Guardian Flora, putting down roots!" This phrase is commonly paired with a gesture, where Abby squares her stance, her arms making an "X" in front of her as she says "Guardian Flora". She then thrusts her arms down and to the sides, hands open, as she says "Putting down roots". A flurry of leaves rises from the ground, obscuring her, while roots rise up and wrap around her, forming her armor. Sunlight falls on her head, making her helmet appear out of glowing light. The leaves settle on her body, then scatter, with her now wearing her green jacket. Finally, she strikes a pose, giving an enthusiastic fist pump and a "Yee-haw!"

Ability: Chlorophyll

Moveset: Vine Whip, Bullet Seed

Weapon of Choice: Hatchet

Transformed Appearance: Abby's armor takes the general appearance of a Bellsprout, most notably in the helmet. The helmet is bright yellow, with a ring of pink around the base, including the retractable mouth plate. Two beady black "eyes" decorate the forehead. The rest of her armor is lightweight: padded brown shirt and pants, brown leather boots, and a green leather jacket, decorated with a leaf pattern on each arm.

Likes: Games, Singing, Tacos
Pet Peeve: Lying, Cheating, Snobby attitudes

Pokémon:
*Tropius
*Hitmonchan
*Horsea

RP Sample: The sun shines brightly in the sky, starting to make it's way down toward sunset. Abby readjusts the brim of her hat to block the glare, continuing to pick the Leppa Berries from the low-hanging branches. The fruit was big and ripe, and a gentle breeze made them sway on the branches. The breeze also carries a voice, calling her name.

Abby glances up, seeing her niece running toward her. Well, not her niece, but her cousin's daughter. There was probably a word for that, but Abby hadn't learned it if there was. It was just easier to-

"ABBY!" Her niece yells her name and shakes her arm, snapping Abby out of her thoughts.

"Huh? I heard ya, I heard ya! What's the matter, Susie?"

"Mom said there was a Heracross over in the West field! You have to go take care of it!" Susie points back the way she came.

"A Heracross?" Abby tilts her hat back, shaking her head in annoyance. "Some sap-sucking scoundrel stealing our Sitrus? Don't you worry none, I'll take care of it. Here, you take care of these for me, will ya?"

Susie looks up at the Berries, easily out of an 8 year old's reach. "Uh, sure. I'll just get a ladder."

Abby spins and delivers a powerful kick to the trunk of the tree, the vibrations knocking the ripe Berries right off their branches. "Nah, just pick 'em up off the ground, put 'em in this basket." She pushes her already mostly full basket into Susie's arms, nearly knocking the girl over. "I'll see ya back at the house!"

Without waiting for a response, Abby rushes off to the Western field to deal with the Bug problem. "Tropius'll knock it out of that tree with Headbutt, and Hitmonchan will knock it out with a Fire Punch! No-good thief won't know what hit him! Nothin' beats my patented Fruit Punch combo!"

Ah!

There was something bothering me deeply from the start, and after sleeping for a few hours, I remember now!

I'll update the SU Templates, but when you sign up, please include a Transformation Phrase and codename. Oh, and add another attack to your character, so they at least have some variety.

Excuse me while I head to class.

Name: Vincent Havanikoe
Codename: Lord Emburn
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Profession: Coordinator
Appearance: Vincent is a light skinned boy with medium, disheveled dark brown hair. He stands at 5'7". Vincent is often seen wearing a black fedora-like hat and always has a silver watch on his left wrist. Vincent has long legs, and somewhat muscular arms. His eyes are a beautiful blue, and they match his sapphire necklace that he attaches his Poke Balls to.
Personality: Vincent is a talented, persistent, and smart person. He has always been interested in Pokemon Contests. Being a well-known Coordinator, he is a good leader. In case it isn't obvious, a good Coordinator needs to lead his Pokenon to do what they do on stage, and to practice. That is why being a Coordinator takes leadership skills. But he often prefers to either let someone else take the front, or do it with someone else. He hates to work alone, and is a good people-person. He likes to take the time and think about what is happening before he jumps in, though he often doesn't get to. Vincent often over thinks things, however, which can lead to some serious issues. He isn't always a very optimistic person, but he tries to be most of the time. Vincent likes positive attention. When it comes to training and such, Vincent always thinks upon the lines of "You're never good enough, you always need to improve"

Vincent likes being a Savior. It gives him the sense of power and importance that he never got as the youngest of five children, or even as a Top Coordinator.

History: Vincent was born and raised in Blackthorn City of Johto. He was the youngest of five children, with two brothers and two sisters. He lived a generally normal childhood until he turned 8 and received his first Pokémon, a Charmander. He stayed at home, treating the Pokémon as a pet until he was 10. At this point, he left for a Pokémon journey to collect all of Johto's Gym Badges.

Shortly after he had collected his fifth Gym Badge a year later, (Charmander was a Charizard then) he decided that the Gyms weren't for him. He had read about Pokémon Contests, and decided to take up Coordinating. On the way home, he captured an Eevee and a Vulpix. He had others, but he felt that they would not be used in the Contests. He gave them to his older brother Patrick, who was a Pokémon Breeder.

His first contest took place in Goldenrod City. Vincent entered Charizard in hopes that it would take the gold prize. He was up against a boy and his Weavile, and two girls with Eevee and Servine, respectively. He came in second place, losing to the girl with the Servine. It didn't matter how he did, he liked Contests and being a Coordinator. That was the beginning of his career.

Since then, he has participated in many contests. Vincent had participated in four of the annual World Grand Festivals, the biggest contest in the Pokémon world. He won the fourth one.

In the meantime, he started a hobby of photography. After winning the Grand Festival, he decided to travel to the region of Chihara to see the lifestyles and cultures there and learn their ways of Coordinating. He spent his life up until now there...

Allegiance: Saviors
Position: Fire Aegis
Gijinka Species: Growlithe
Transformation Phase: "Unlock the flames of the fire savior!" he calls as he puts his arms in an X formation behind him. Then he puts his right foot forward, and is surrounded by a ring of fire taller than him. If one would be able to see through this fire (I guess they could look through a little gap between the flames, but they're so close together, I mean really little), they would see Vincent giving off a red glow so bright that you could only see his silhouette as he transformed. Then, the ring disappears, and so does the glow. An explosion of embers signals the transformation's completion. These embers seem to vanish after a few minutes.
Ability: Flash Fire
Moveset: Flamethrower, Reversal
Weapon of Choice: Staff (and he lights the ends on fire), sometimes a crossbow
Transformed Appearance: Image this is based on (I changed a couple things, like the goggles were removed) to help you get a better picture
After his transformation, Vincent's hair turns a cream color like that of Growlithe's mane. Poking out of his hair are two fake Growlithe ears. He appears to be taller and older. Vincent is wearing a Growlithe fur jacket that has the same pattern as a Growlithe. On the shoulders and the ends of the sleeves, there are tufts of fur the same color as Vincent's transformed hair. Under this lies a thin piece of fireproof armor. His Poke Balls are relocated to the jacket stripe at his waist, which serves as a belt to hold Poke Balls. Attacthed to the back of the jacket is a fake Growlithe tail that is lined with metal under the fur, so it can block sword strikes from behind. On the belt, he can carry his weapons as well. His pants are the same as the jacket, with the piece of armor under that as well. The jacket and pants themselves are made of leather, which offers some protection.

The First Contest
The Eevee did something like a backflip, then kicked sand above him to form an arch shape. It wasn't a very good performance, but it WAS everyone's first contest. Vincent stood with the other two participants off to the side of the stage as the girl with the Eevee performed. Hopefully they would be able to do better than that.

The girl bowed and walked offstage. The audience of merely twelve gave a half-hearted applause. She probably wasn't going to win, but maybe everyone else was even worse.

"And next up, Vincent Hava... Dava... Javarick..." The announcer's voice trailed. Looks like the Contest Hall hired amateur announcers for amateur contests too. Vincent thought.

Vincent walked on to the stage with Charizard behind him. They had been rehearsing for this contest for about two weeks. Hopefully they could pull it off. It began when Vincent put up his hand, which was the signal for Charizard to start. The lights dimmed.

He looked out onto the crowd. Three members of the audience seemed to be asleep, most of the rest only barely awake. Everyone has to start somewhere, I guess... he thought. Finally, Vincent brought up his left hand. He was trembling.

Charizard began with a smooth Fire Spin, making a spiral of flames appear around him. He sent it all upwards into a circle with a strong Wing Attack. Even Noah was sent a few steps backward by the force. The circles of flames rose to the ceiling, in which it continued to spin from the momentum of before. Charizard hit there with a Flamethrower, which caused them to grow in size and spin faster. He then flew up, through the hoop of fire, and then beat it with a Wing Attack. The fire floated down to the ground in little pieces like light snow.

Vincent looked at the stage. It was burned in a few places... but hopefully that wouldn't impact his score. He bowed, and walked behind the curtains with Charizard.

For a first contest, that wasn't half bad. Vincent thought. The other two Coordinators still had to take their turns, but he felt quite confident.

Name: Jack Skully
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Profession: Student

Appearance: For his age, Jack is about average height, but rather thin, and as such doesn't seem intimidating in the slightest. This fact is further hammered in by the warm smile he almost always sports, however, this smile never seems to touch his teal blue eyes. He has rather pale skin, with no colour from the sun. Jack's hair is a long and straight dark red, which he usually keeps off his face in a loose ponytail, although a few loose strands tend to fall free and cover his left eye, along with the glasses he wears.

He tends to dress like a stereotypical moody teenager, preferring to wear his oversized hoodie with almost everything. Under this, Jack tends to wear various coloured tee shirts, with almost all of them emblazoned with a famous artwork, many of them by Banksy. Denim jeans are a must, no matter how many holes he's torn in them, the same with his black canvas shoes. Around his neck is a single teal round stone on a simple necklace.

Personality: Jack tries his best to please everyone. This isn't done out of sheer kindness, but rather as a self defence mechanism. He's found that if he acts in the ways that people find agreeable and pleasant, and doesn't focus on anything too difficult to grasp, most people don't find any reason to have a go at him. As such, he's often the first to laugh at someone's joke, the first to compliment someone, and the first to offer assistance. If he doesn't feel the need to protect himself however, Jack comes across as being fairly cynical. He has a very strong "Me VS Them" mentality, only looking at a situation in terms of how it will assist him. As such, he prefers to work alone, with the only creature he's willing to collaborate with being his Pokemon. He is, however, mainly cynical about human nature, having been lead to believe that while beauty lies within most things, for those who look hard enough, human's lack this, and will willingly tear others down for their own amusement, so he thinks it's perfectly logical to go to any length to protect himself.

As he feels so threatened by other people and downtrodden, Jack finds the power he gains from being a Gijinka to be highly addictive. It gives him a sense of having control, something he's felt lacking in his life for years, and enables him to obtain revenge from those he feels have wronged him. Specifically, he goes after those who bullied him as a child, and uses his power to intimidate them into doing his will. He isn't aware of how hypocritical his behaviour is, merely seeing his power as a chance for him to punish those he feels have committed a crime. Or, that's what he tells himself. In reality, he fights as a part of the Naissance simply because he enjoys the feeling of power, not out of any warped sense of justice. He refuses to acknowledge this as he wishes to continue to have a positive opinion of himself as the victim in all this.

History: Jack was the youngest of three siblings, born into a low income family with rather traditional views on gender roles. His father was the main enforcer of this, and would not accept any of his sons to have any traits which he perceived to be "girly", as it was an "insult" to their "manhood". Both of Jack's older brothers had no trouble fitting the mould required, however, Jack himself struggled. He found that he preferred to sit and watch his mother paint flowers rather than play fight with his brothers, and slowly developed an appreciation for capturing the beauty of the world. When he revealed this to his father however, it didn't go down well. From then on, his father looked down upon him as a disappointment, and Jack had to continue practising his art in secret, although his mother encouraged his creativity.

This continued until he reached high school, when his father decided that in order to get Jack to pursue some more appropriate and useful skills (in his mind), he sent him to an all-boys school in Chihara. This turned out to be problematic for him, as Jack found that his father's stereotype-focused mentality was encouraged by the school. This resulted in the rather soft spoken, quiet young boy being seen as being an easy target by other students to assert their position and power over. So, Jack ended up the punching bag of the school, and slowly withdrew from his peers. The only joy he found was in the Abra he received from his parents as a 12th birthday present. He'd named her Frida after one of his favourite artists. The two formed a strong bond, and thanks to Frida being a psychic type, the two could speak at any distance, which made school more bearable. Her ability to teleport was especially useful at pulling him out every time he got locked into a cupboard.

It was Frida who eventually suggested that he could get a little bit of revenge by grafiting the school, or the main bullies lockers. After a moment of consideration, Jack got Frida to teleport him in. However, he ran into another group of boys, whom had broken in to the school to set up some pranks, and they decided that they might as well have a bit of fun messing with Jack as well. One of the other student's Pokemon attacked Frida, distracting her enough so that she couldn't teleport the two of them to safety, while the others were set upon Jack. While he ran, he started to cry, and his tears ended up taking a physical form, in the shape of a small teal stone. While holding it, some words came to mind, and he spoke them, only to find himself changing shape. When the Pokemon caught up to him, they didn't attack him straight up, but became friendlier towards him. Noticing in a nearby mirror that he looked exactly like one of the bullies, he ordered the Pokemon to attack the one hurting Frida, allowing her the time to escape and get them both safely back to his room.

After discovering he was a Gijinka, Jack started using it to blackmail the bullies into leaving him alone. This worked well for him, until one night he came into contact with another Gijinka, who revealed themselves to be a member of the Naissance. They'd come to his school seeking him, as his night-time activities had started rumours of the school being haunted by a demon. Realising that he could use the group to feel more powerful, he happily accepted, without really knowing or caring what the group truly stood for.

Allegiance: Naissance
Position: Joker
Codename: Light Thief
Gijinka Species: Zoroark
Transformation Phase: Jack must first say "Reveal the truth, the Joker." To start his transformation. At this, the stone in his necklace begins to glow, along with his eyes. The air around him starts to shimmer and twist, like a mirage, so an onlooker would only vaguely see his body change. Finally, in a burst of teal light, the mirage is broken, leaving Jack in his Gijinka form.
Ability: Illusion
Moveset: Foul Play, Protect
Weapon of Choice: Scythe
Transformed Appearance: Transformed, Jack fills out a bit, giving him the much needed muscle to hit fast and hard. His skin turns black, except for around his eyes and mouth, which are painted blood red. His teeth become deadly sharp, he gains a cat like nose, and his eyes become brighter and his pupils become slits, no longer requiring glasses. His hair lengthens, becoming messier and tipped with black, only held in place with a large teal gem towards the end. Long ears appear to poke through his hair, and he gains large red claws on his hands and feet.

He sports a long black jacket, trimmed with red on the sleeves and the bottom, and lined with jet black fur, most notably around the chest and neck, where it sticks out considerably. Under this, Jack wears a dark grey tunic with ripped edges, held in black with a black sash. Under this is practical loose dark grey pants. He goes barefoot in order to fully maximise the use of his claws. Hidden under his clothes is light leather armour. Finally, around his neck he wears a teal necklace, with two fang shaped stones around a single round stone.

RP Sample: Jack hit the floor hard, then tried to roll out of the way to avoid the incoming kick to the ribs, but wasn't fast enough. The blow took the wind out of him, and for a moment all he could do was lay there, wheezing. It was more than enough time that they needed. Hands grabbed him, and he felt himself being dragged along the floor, only to be shoved into a small space in the ground. All around him, he heard laughter echoing as his now-flailing limbs were shoved into the small space, and once inside, a floor board, only recently removed to create a tiny gap in the floor, was placed back in its rightful position, blocking out all the light Jack could see.
Panic started racing through his heart as his brain started processing exactly what was happening. Outside of this gap in the floor, he could hear the steady thumping of something hitting the floor. A chill ran through Jack as he realised that the sound was – they were nailing the floorboard back into place.

He started screaming, clawing the wood in front of his face, barely feeling the splinters rip through his desperate flesh. It was stuck under the floor, they were going to leave him here, he was stuck, the space was small, it was getting smaller as he hyperventilated, smaller and smallerandohgodhe-

"Jack. A gentle voice echoed through his head. "It's okay, the space isn't shrinking."

He could have cried with relief to hear Frida's voice, but since he could already feel the trails running down his cheeks, it was impossible. She'd be able to get him out of here, pull him out of this tiny hole in the ground. Frida would be here any second, he was sure. But the seconds ticked by, documented by the steady thump of the hammers. Jack felt himself frown. Why wasn't she coming? Then it clicked, and the hope that she'd just given him was shattered. It was too small in this space for her to fit in while he was there. She couldn't teleport in here to save him.

Jack screamed again, and received the sound of a heavy object smashing into the top of the floor in response. He vaguely heard someone speaking, sneering words, amongst other people giggling, but he couldn't process them through the panic and the tears. He had an idea of what they said though. It was always the same thing. This is your fault. You only have yourself to blame for this. If you weren't such a sissy you'd fight back and this wouldn't happen. Why won't you fight back? It's because you're weak. You're not a man, you're a child. It was always the same damn thing.

Everything went quiet above him, as the footsteps of his tormentors slowly walked away, the only sound came from his rapid panting. Jack closed his eyes, trying to summon calm, only to end up trying to punch the floorboard above him in frustration. He had no idea of how he was going to get out of this one, as this classroom wouldn't be used again until tomorrow morning. Could he survive under the floorboards all night? The idea was terrifying.

"Sit tight Jack, it will be okay. I'm getting someone to pull you out, don't worry."

At the sound of her comforting words, he managed to take a deep breath. Frida would sort this out. She'd save him, she always did. Jack closed his eyes, trying to ignore the feeling of the space around him shrinking, and waited.
