The Meritocracy*
Marked on Map

Imagine a world, where those with Talent, Intelligence and Creativity rules.

The prelude: This is essientially Sci-Fi but could just as easily be modern. I kind of started this as a vision of a Utopia, but there are some tweaks that could be made to be a Dystopia disguising itself as a Utopia. These being over-surveillance/Big Brother, Rampant Capitalism (credit cards to get in to places as ID, profiting off public services) etc

Technocracy-Meritocracy. A society, government and education system based on entirely finding what someone is talented at. Firstly, all the different schools (nurserys, infant school, junior school, senior school, college universities) are all combined in to one, hereafter known as an Academy. Usually skyscrapers with lots of floors. They would have extra management making the early childhood tailored to them. It is set in accordance with ability instead of age. Some acadenies are very specialised, some are generalised. Most are state-owned, and actually some get better funding when they are state-owned.
Usually the management act almost like "chains" even though state owned, meaning that they will oversee maybe three academies and then pyramid down for more intense management. There are no boys only state academies, only mixed and Girls only. Some mixed seperate for certain subjects in order to increase their chances to exceed. This is because of studies about Girls benefitting from single sex schools and boys suffering. The subjects are much more varied so they can find whatever their population is talented at. Everything someone can be good at, there is a subject for. People can switch between acadmies to encourage people to find their talent. They use a multitude of examination techniques in order to fit the student. The grading of that is converted in to a number 1-100 and standardized.

The goverment is a council of the most elite, most talented and intelligent in the country

Private Academies usually teaching an extreme regiment of education. While there are Sports Academies, and seek excellence in sports.

Good idea, but I would argue whether it is Sci-fi or soon-to-be reality by the way (I found it interesting) could you write more about elites and government ? I mean whether it is chosen in election and other political details.

I wonder what this world would be like outside of the academies, if there is a world outside them. Are they more like boarding schools where the students live there full time? You mention that they're these large skyscrapers and those could hold all kinds of things like dormitories and such.

I know we've talked about this before already, but I do find the idea of a society ruled by the most skilled/intelligent to be quite an interesting idea - although not necessarily one I'd support in real life.

At first it sounds like it almost makes sense, but then you have to look into how the rest of the nation would be effected. Can you imagine how radically different business, socialisation, discrimination etc etc would be in a country built like this?

I am really looking forward to seeing you developing not only the academies but the rest of the world further.
