I would make my way through Victory road, pushing rocks, fighting annoying trainers, and then..i would see it in the horizon as i left the cave. The Pokemon League.
I would step through, going to buy healing items and selling what I didn't need. I would use all the stat medicines i had to boost my members, grinded them up to level 60 on the Road..and i stepped through the door.
The first was Lorelei, the ice mistress, she had a sly cool demenor that made me nervous, but I was ready for this. She started with her Dewgong, which I would sent Billy out to Razor Leaf, slicing it apart easily. Then she sent out her Slowbro, who was a wall to say the least. I swapped into Bee, but was put to sleep whilst damaging it. This made me switch out into JJ, who almost died to a Surf from it. I switch back out to Billy, who got yawned but killed it with Razor Leaf. She then sent out her ace, her Lapras. I would counter her with Marley, Body slamming it over and over, using full heals on my own to get rid of paralysis until it was down. I had literally beaten her Lapras to death with my own lapras. Her Cloyster was one shotted by Billy, sliced up like her first two mons. Then I accidentally left Billy in against a Jynx, I would switch him out quickly into Rin who melted the creature into a puddle with a fake blonde wig. And with that, Lorelei was defeated, without any deaths to my name just yet.
I would step past her, staring back at the first defeated, I had crippled her team and her icy defense. I just had 3 to go before taking my place as Champion, and allowing the truth of what happened to get out. Next was Bruno, I wasn't super nervous about him overall. He was a man of action, of strength, of training. Before this I would use a TM to teach Billy Giga Drain over Razor Leaf due to his Special attack being leagues higher. I would test it out on his first Onix, I absorbed every ounce of life from it in one shot. His next mon was Hitmonchan, who I would pit against Bee. I then realized a problem...Bruno had male pokemon. This guy knew of the epidemic and kept his pokemon in tip top shape to survive it. Or...he knew about it all this time and knew how to prevent his team from being afflicted. I got flashbacks to the dead Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee at the fighting dojo and how badly it had affected the members, and I would clench my fists. I would prepare to counter him with Beem but found out a problem, his Hitmonchan had Rock Tomb. I would swap out into Bea, who i would use to Drill Peck it to death. Then..he sent out his ace, a male Machamp, beefy, strong, and annoying since I had no way of obtaining one before this. I would send in Rin to remove the speed drop i had gotten from rock tomb before on Bea, only to find rock tomb again, I would send Bea back out, knowing she had taken a Rock Tomb before, but would, to my dismay, be struck with a Crit.
I watched as the rocks cascaded down, snapping her wings and crushing her body, buriend in a stone tomb, crushed, feathers falling from the sky around me like a serenade of her soul passing by...and then I lost it. I had lost another flying type, one who did what they could to be a good replacement for my old one, and I had grown fond of their strength to be good if not better..and there they lay..dead. I sent Rin back out, erupting a Flamethrower to burn the bulky mon to a crisp, nothing but charred ash was left. He sent out his other Onix, life drained from his body through Billy. He sent out his final mon, Hitmonlee. I sent Rin out to finish it off..but I got cocky. He used Mega Kick, a low hitting move, that critted. it got her in the red, beaten her to near death. as she crumpled over, I sent out Billy, my one male mon, having survived the scourge, against this terror's own male monster. I would give the order, and he drained everything that was left of him. Once again, Billy was the last Male monster left standing in Kanto. I would walk past Bruno, he was defeated, broken, his perfectly trained team all obliterated. I thought of Bea...but I kept moving forward, I had come too far to look back now, I just had to win this...for her sake.
Next was Agatha, a powerful ghost type user...or..poison type. It was hard to tell really. Either way I had to be careful, her Gengars were nasty, along with the rest of her team. So I would start with Bee, stun sporing her first Gengar, and while it would remain paralyzed and unable to move. I tore its ectoplasmic body apart with Psybeam, watching as it dissipated into nothing but gas in the air. She would send out a Golbat, one I would pit Marley against, it confused her, and she hit herself once. but she would then freeze it middair and watch it come shattering down with Ice Beam. She would send out Arbok next, who i pitted against Bee. I would stun spore it, only for it to Sludge Bomb her several times. I had to full Restore to remove the poison and heal, but I got lucky as the paralysis kicked in and stopped it. I would finish it off after with Psybeam, watching it slam over, mind broken and ravaged. Then she sent out her ace, her second Gengar. I pitted Marley against it, knowing she could tank its special based attacks. I used this moment to heal up my team while Marley took hits, healing her up in the process, and surfing the Gengar after. dissipating its poisonous body in the water. Then finally, her Haunter. It knew no attacking moves other than Dream Eater. So I would pit Bee against it, full healing every time she was asleep until I finished it with a Psybeam. I had broken her smug facade..but she congratulated me. Her dead mons just..reappearing behind her again...made sense I suppose. She seemed proud I had come so far with a goal to reveal to the world the horrors of what I had unraveled, and she deemed me worthy of the title of Champion, I just had two more challenges in my way. I would thank her, stepping past into the final Elite four chamber.
Lance...the dragon master. He was the one I had prepared for more than any other. He smugly accepted me as a challenger, impressed I had come this far, but deemed my destruction imminent. He started with a Gyarados, one I would counter with Billy. I would take it down like I had all the other Gyarados I had encountered, I Sleep Powdered it, and Leech seeded it along with giga drain to defeat it. His Aerodactyl was next, one who I would surf over in one blow with Marley. His final 3 mons, boasting strength with the dragon type, all fell in one blow, one by one, frozen by Marley. I watched each one fall with ease...and Lance was defeated. He would look shocked..but he shook my hand, and congratulated me. I thought it was over...but he revealed something to me, I had to beat the Champion, and it was none other than Joe! He had beaten each of them already behind my back to get to the top, he was planning to take the glory of being champion so that none may ever see him as weak ever again. I would walk past lance, thanking him for the battle, and headed up the pathway into the large mechanical room.
And there he stood, Joe, the one who had defeated my Pidgeotto all that time ago, stood in my way, the way of exposing the truth of what this region had gone through. He didn't care, he just wanted to be seen as the strongest, the most powerful trainer in the region, no matter what it took. And he was planning on destroying my entire team to prove it. I stared him down, my team missing one member, and I started the battle. He started with his Pidgeot, but I had changed members up this time. I would sent out Marley to ice beam it, watching it shatter on the ground. He didn't seem phased, they were common in his eyes, he could always get another one. He switched out to Rhydon, who i would Giga Drain with Billy, watching as it crumpled over, nothing but a rocky lifeless statue. His eye twitched..but it was no matter, it was quad weak anyways. He could always replace it with something better. He would send out Alakazam, I'd send out Bee against him, Silver winding him. But when I was going in for a Stun Spore, he switched...to his Charizard. He had gotten stronger, he had learned to switch when necessary. I had a problem now, if I switched to Marley. She was below half health from taking a hit from Pidgeot. She wouldn't survive a fire Blast from him..and if I lost Marley. I lost the battle, because nothing else could take a single fire blast from him. I Didn't know what to do....In my thought however..I looked up..and I saw Bee, looking back at me. I saw determination in their eyes, determination to win, even if it means..they weren't there to win with us. I would take a deep breath, and nod, using a hyper potion on Marley and turning around. as I heard the roar of the flames behind me...and the sound of Bee being burned away, dissipated into not even ash...I would tremble, the sound of my rivals laughter echoing behind me. As I stood up and turned, and sent out Marley. I would angrily order her to Rain dance, as his fire blast did nothing to me. And I would have her use surf. I watched as the powerful crashing waves swept up, and came down, slamming against the charizard as its flame was put out. It was slammed against the wall of the arena as water spilled around, a soaked Joe would look behind to see his partner slumped against the cracked wall, dead. And I saw something in him I hadn't seen before...actual anger. Actual real anger and devestation at losing a team member, something I had been feeling all this time.
And he turned to me, tears speckled in his eyes as he sent out Exeggutor, the same pokemon who had killed my team member all that time ago, and I sent out JJ so I could stall the Rain dance..knowing he had a Gyarados left. But I hadn't anticipated the strength of it, as it would use Giga Drain..and in my anger I had made a mistake...and watched as JJ...one of the first mons I had every captured...was sucked dry of all her energy, and she slumped over, dead and defeated. 3 members, all with me through my journey, crushed and defeated in this arena. Then...the rain stopped. JJ had bought just enough time, for me to send out Rin, and yell out an order. I watched as she let loose a Flamethrower, and the murdering grass type who had killed not one, but two team members now, and watch as it would burn away. He was on the ropes now, sweating, upset, exhausted, and most of his team was dead around him. He would send out Gyarados next, and I'd treat it like I had others. I sleep powdered it, and drained every ounce of life force it had left with Billy. But he thought he had a chance, he had Alakazam left. Who was specially bulky, I sent out Rin, and he mocked my strength, stating it was nothing like his..and before he could even utter an order to attack. I sent Rin to use Extreme Speed, the only physical move she knew..one that could attack first...and watch as she shot forward, wind rushing past her as she vanished almost instantly. then appeared, slamming into the psychic type's chest...as its armor plate cracked..its ribs shattering as it would ripple and slam through the air, crashing into the wall...destroyed. Joe fell to his knees as his final prayer flew past him to its doom, and he would stare at the ground, completely defeated. Questioning on how he could have lost, then..we both heard footsteps behind us.
Professor Oak stepped in, and stared around at the grave sight. He sighed and walked up to me, congratulating me for my strength and tenacity in this fight, staring at his defeated grandson. and he would state how disappointed in the type of trainer he had become, stating he could never win because he didn't have something I did, a bond with my team. Joe couldn't even look him in the eye, Professor Oak would walk me past him into the Hall of Fame. he held up a pokeball to me after I had returned what was left of my team, Bea's ball. I would look at it..and silently hug him..thanking him for giving me the chance to create bonds like this..to have such a wonderful team. He pat me on the back, and gestured me to the machine, to etch my name in time as Kanto's new Champion...and with that..I made the decision..I would make this Region a better place, a safer place, and one that could be fixed and repaired from what Team Rocket had done. and with that, I placed each ball into the socket..and watched the machine run up my name and team...as the Champion of the Kanto Region.
