SIGN UP IS NOW CLOSED.
NOTE: This Tournament has been approved by Aurafire.
Well, as the title suggests, I'm going to hopefully start a fun, and friendly, Pokemon Tournament over Wi-fi. This tournament (DOUBLET's SHADOWBRAWL) will be sanctioned based on your level and experience, so that it will be fun and fair for all the contestants.
Now, let's start off, let me explain a basic format of the tournament:
BASIC TOURNAMENT LAYOUT:
Basically, the battles will take place over Wi-fi, and will be held in the main wi-fi room. For each battle, you will have to traverse to the basement of any poke center, and sign on to Nintendo WFC. You and your challenger will be put together for a battle, in which you are allowed to use any allowed tactic to defeat the opponent's entourage of pokemon.
For each victory you will move up the bracket, if you lose, you will still have a chance to claim victory after being moved to a looser bracket. If you win there, you move up the looser bracket. (If you loose there though, its game over) The winner of the whole looser bracket will have to battle the winner of the original bracket once each battle is completed... Depending on the performances of both champions, you may have to battle the first bracket's champion twice, seeing they would not have loss yet... As in, they still have two losses until they are finished.
Also, to keep things fair, I will be sanctioning battles by level. There will be 3 categories to enter, which are listed below:
CATAGORIES (RULES FOR EACH ARE FOUND IN THE RULES SECTION OF THE THREAD):
Category #1: THE MINUTE MELEE: This is for growing Pokemon stars that haven't beaten the elite four and have pokemon between levels 25 and 35. You will also be expected to have pre-evolved pokemon. I will immediately debunk you if you come into a battle with a Level 30 Tyrranitar.
Category #2: THE CLASSIC COMBAT: This is the place for pokemon that are any level. If you choose to enlist in this part of the tourney, you will simply be using the premade Wi-fi setting. You may have pokemon that are fully evolved, and that have powerful moves. Basically, this is the cage battle where everything goes! (With the addition of a few simple rules, see the rules section of the thread)
Categories #3: THE SUPER SKIRMISH: This is another category for pokemon of any level. The only difference here is that your Pokemon will not automatically be elevated to level 100. (They will stay at there current level) This is the section with the most rules, and the section where the rules will be the most strongly enforced. I only suggest entering this one if you have beaten the Elite Four, and have legit, exceptionally good pokemon. (Level 50 and Higher is recomended)
Note: You can enter all of the categories of you choose to.
Now that that's settled, I need to go over the most important thing, the rules. These rules are primarily a stricter version of battle tower's, but you still need to read and understand them.
RULES (NO EXCEPTIONS):
Banned Pokemon (Applies for each category):
First off, the banned Pokemon list. These pokemon are considered too powerful for the tourney. The pokemon on this list are all of the ubers, which, if you require a refresher is below:
:: Mewtwo
:: Mew
:: Lugia
:: Ho-Oh
:: Latios
:: Kyogre
:: Groudon
:: Rayquaza
:: Deoxys (all forms)
:: Dialga
:: Palkia
:: Giratina
:: Manaphy
:: Darkrai
:: Arceus
:: Shaymin Sky Form (Normal Form is not considered Uber)
:: Garchomp
:: Wobbafett
Having any of these majestic beings will be considered breaking the rules... Meaning, disqualification. (But all other pokemon, including legends, are excepted)
Okay, that should make designing a team a bit more fair and challenging. Now, below are just some obvious rules that go along with out saying. These are all found on the battle Stadium thread:
Basic Rules (Applies for each Category):
Sleep Rule: Disables you from putting two of the opponent's pokemon to sleep at once. If a pokemon is knocked out while sleeping, you can put another pokemon to sleep.
Freeze Rule: You cannot freeze two of the opponent's pokemon. However, if a pokemon was frozen, and then faints, you can freeze another pokemon.
Evasion Rule: You cannot use moves to lower accuracy or raise your ability to evade attacks. Just note that, if you have a move that deals damage and lowers accuracy, its fine.
Species Rule: You are not allowed to have two or more of the same pokemon species on the same team. However, different Evee evolutions are fine.
Self-Destruct Rule: You cannot kill yourself by using self destruct or explosion when you are on your final pokemon.
Name Rule (Mine): You cannot fight with a pokemon that has a pornographic or disgusting name. Also, a name containing a curse word is not aloud.
Hack Rule (Mine): ABSOLUTLEY NO HACKERS! If you have used an Action Replay to obtain any pokemon, you will be kicked out of the tournament, no questions asked. If I even suspect you have a hacked pokemon, I will terminate you from the tournament. I will be seeing if your pokemon stats match up to what they should be (IV check, pokemon with max IVs are out) and if the moves are moves the pokemon can learn.
Category Rules:
Minute Melee Rules: The rules for the first category are simple. Basically, all you need to do is ensure that your pokemon are between levels 25 and 35. You also need to make sure that their moves do exceed a maximum power of 85, and that their evolved form is right for the level. (Ex. You cannot have a Tyrranitar, seeing it evolves from Pupitar past level 35) This will cut down the number of cheaters, and diminish hackers.
The Classic Combat Rules: The only rules for this one are the basic and banned pokemon rules.
The Super Skirmish Rules: This event, on top of the basic rules, has a few other strict regulations that you must obey. You cannot have more than three Level 100s. Also, the amount of legendary Pokemon you can have is limited; Maximum legends are also three. Also, though it isn't required, it is suggested you have higher level pokemon, and a good coverage of types. Laws here will be the most strictly enforced. I will double check all move lists and all stats before beginning.
Note: Breaking any of these rules will result in an immediate disqualification.
Now that we have the boring part over, we can get to onto something more casual, the prizes! Prizes will be given to trainers who come in third, second or third place. Also, the runner up and honorable mention of the Super Skirmish will receive a few legendary Pokemon (Oh and all the below are LEGIT, none were cheated for):
PRIZES (YOU ALSO RECEIVE A SPECIAL PICTURE TO PUT IN YOUR SIGNATURE):
The Minute Melee:
3rd: Gets a Cresselia Level 60
2nd: Gets a Level 30 Shaymin, and a Level 60 Deoxys
1st: Gets a Level 89 Mew, a Level 90 Darkai, and a Level 1 Phione
The Classic Combat:
3rd: Gets an Azelf Level 60
2nd: Gets an Uxie and Mesperit, Level 60
1st: Gets a Level 65 Sceptile, a Level 70 Celebi, and a Level 30 Rotom
Super Skirmish:
Honorable Mention: Gets a Manaphy and a Phione
Runner Up: Gets a Pikachu with surf (From Pokemon BR)
3rd Place: Gets a LVL 80 Dialga, LVL 65 Suicune
2nd Place: Gets a LVL 85 Palkia, LVL 60 Celebie, and a LVL 43 Shelgon
1st Place: Receives my prized possession, a LVL 90 Shining Girratina, plus a LVL 92 Deoxys, a LVL 67 Lopunny and a LVL 1 Trapinch
Yet Another Note: I would be glad if some of you donated, that means we could have more pokemon prizes for each category.
There, pretty good huh? Now, you guys are probably wondering how you earn the title "Honorable Mention". This will be given to the participant who goes against the greatest odds, and gets the farthest. Mainly, it will be chosen by the stats, moves of your pokemon, and how much you're able to rock the boat when battling tough foes.
Now, how about "How to Enter"...
HOW TO ENTER/COMPETING (READ ALL RULES BEFORE ENTERING):
So, let me tell you the last thing you need to know: How to enter! Entering Doublet's ShadowBrawl is easy. Just reply to this thread saying you want to enter, you could also voice any suggestions you have. After doing so, please PM me with your name and Wifi code. If you do that I can organize the pools, and brackets. After the sign up date expires, I will have all the combatants give me there pokemon information, but that will be in a bit, so don't ask any questions about this part yet.
I'll assign you your battles, and give you the friend code of each foe you wind up fighting. Also, to get accurate results of the wins and losses, I, or one of the tournament administrators, will be in the Wi-fi room for each battle. We will be checking victories, so don't try to lie to us. Once we confirm the outcome of your bout, we will add it to the tournament bracket. After each section of the bracket reaches completion, I will PM you with the results, and your next opponent. (For example, after the four people in the semi-finals finish, I will PM you on who will be fighting in the finals).
The tournament is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 5th. Registration closes Saturday, May 30th.
Well, that's it. Be sure to tell your friends, neighbors, siblings, cousins... Everyone! About my tourney. (If they do not have a Pokecommunities account, then give me their info as well) I'm hoping this tourney is both fun, exciting, adrenaline rushing, awesome, and fair!
One Last Very Important Note: THIS THREAD IS ONLY TO SIGN UP! IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS YOU MUST SEND THEM TO ME VIA PM OR E-MAIL.
-See you soon! Doublet OUT!
