Hey all, I've been going over the recent usage stats for the NU tier, and believe I came up with a team that can counter most top threats.
Golurk, Alomomola, Sawk, and most Guts users are put down hard by this team, although it's lack of reliable recovery means you should try to end these battles as quickly as possible.
I have videos of this team doing work over on my channel, which is in my signature.

Time for the main event:
1. Scarved Simisear (Revenge Killing Speed Demon)
Spoiler:
Simisear's bases may not seem like much, but a blaze boosted Overheat utterly decimates anything that doesn't resist it, and OHKOs many pokemon with mediocre or low bulk. When Scarved with a Timid nature, Simisear has the ability to outrun Jolly Scarved Sawk, along with every unboosted Pokemon in the tier, including electrode and Ninjask. I use flamethrower if I'm going to be in for more than one turn, or am comfortable that the loss of initial power from overheat won't be missed for the duration of Simisear's rotation into battle. Grass Knot KO's many leads that Overheat cannot normally deal massive damage to, such as Golem, Carracosta, and Seismitoad. Hidden Power Rock is used against opposing fire-types, the most notable being Charizard, who would otherwise wall this set.
Wangsworth (Simisear) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Blaze
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Overheat
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Rock]
2. Mixed Support/Attacking Glaceon (Winter's Howl)
Spoiler:
This may seem like a strange set, and it totally is, but allow me to explain. In the meta before PrimeApe/Jynx/Scolipede moved down, Ice types were actually a lot easier to use, so Glaceon was a Specs set with Blizzard to hit harder, etc.. Now, however, it's restricted to a Utility set with the Electric/Ice type neutral coverage. It's wishes actually heal for quite a bit, and it can take Physical hits surprisingly well, although Sawk will OHKO it with Close Combat even if it wasn't banded. Since Glaceon needs to be able to Heal Bell/Wish at least once, half of the HP EVs have been moved into defense, and the rest into speed, to outspeed base 55 speed with 84 Speed investment. This does decrease the volume of the wishes, but It's still better than the nothing I was dealing with before.
Chili (Glaceon) @ Life Orb
Trait: Ice Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 120 HP / 128 Def/ 252 SAtk / 12 Spd
Modest Nature
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Heal Bell
- Wish
4. Banded Seviper (Wannabe Physical Elektross)
Spoiler:
Banded Seviper hits anything that doesn't resist it like a truck. with the 8 speed investment allowing it to outspeed Base 55 speed with 84 invested. Aqua Tail will OHKO Golurk after stealth rocks, and Sucker Punch allows it to revenge kill common threats like Jynx, who might think that Seviper is just Psychic Fodder. Poison Jab and Earthquake round out his coverage, allowing him to hit Grass, Rock, Electric, and other Poison types very hard.
Slither (Seviper) @ Choice Band
Trait: Shed Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Aqua Tail
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
4. Lead Purugly (Beatifully Destructive Guts/WallBreaker)
Spoiler:
Foul Play will definitily OHKO Golurk after Entry Hazards, and has a 65% chance to otherwise, which is actually my favorite part of this set and an excellent selling point to start with. This set is able to switch into many ghost type's otherwise devasting STAB moves, such as +2 Misdreavus' Shadow Ball, and hit it hard with Shadow Claw. Haunter is also very susceptible to this, although beware his secondary Poison-Type STAB. Purugly's Foul Play will also OHKO most of the Guts Birds, such as Braviary and Swellow, as well as Ursaring and Zangoose. Super Fang is excellent against High HP Walls Like Alomomola, who are then Grass Knott fodder for Simisear. U-turn allows it to inflict heavy damage to Exeggutor and other Psychic/Dark Types, as well as maintain momentum after double downs or after a revenge kill.
Noble (Purugly) @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Super Fang
- Foul Play
- Shadow Claw
5. Physically Defensive Wartortle (Unbreakable Shell)
Spoiler:
Wartortle may seem like more of a Special Wall to you, but it functions perfectly well as a physical one. Normally, Wartortle is setup fodder for Pokemon like Musharna, or literally anything that sets up. Haze tends to surprise Shell Smash users, basically wasting their White Herb, while Yawn forces them out if they didn't get the hint. this Wartortle can sponge hits from physical powerhouses like Golurkand toss back STAB Scalds with a chance to half their attack and cause damage over time, while rapid spin ensures that stealth rocks and spikes won't be crippling your sweepers.
Lady (Wartortle) @ Eviolite
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Haze
- Yawn
- Rapid Spin
6. Specially Defensive Stunfisk (Mutant & Proud)
Spoiler:
Stunfisk can hit its opponent relatively hard with Thunderbolt and Earth power, as well as crippling opposing walls and sweepers with Paralysis and rocks damage. However, Stunfisk's true calling is to sponging hits from literally everything. Super Effective? Doesn't matter, ~30%. Physical? Maybe ~40%. That's literally all there is to say about Stunfisk.
Barfolomew (Stunfisk) @ Leftovers
Trait: Limber
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- ThunderBolt
- Earth Power
- Thunder Wave
