  • I decided to build a new team, taking some suggestions from a site called PokéBattle. So far it's only got analyses of every Pokémon revealed, but it also has a growing list of movesets that more people could take notes from. Anything from PokéBattle, I'll be denoting with an asterisk next to the nickname. Anyway, I've started using this here team on PO.

    Spoiler:

    Criticism is appreciated, folks.

  • Swanna is a very subpar Pokemon. Its offenses are only average at best, and it doesn't have much to offer to set itself apart from other Defoggers and Rapid Spinners. Here's a list of Pokemon that can do its job a lot better:
    Starmie:
    -Hydro Pump/Surf
    -Thunderbolt/Psyshock
    -Ice Beam
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Life Orb
    Ability: Natural Cure

    or
    -Scald
    -Rapid Spin
    -Psyshock/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt
    -Recover
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 248 HP/32 Def/4 SAtk/224 Spe
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Natural Cure

    Excadrill:
    -Earthquake
    -Rock Slide/Iron Head
    -Rapid Spin
    -Swords Dance/Stealth Rock
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Air Balloon/Chople Berry
    Ability: Mold Breaker

    or
    -Earthquake
    -Iron Head
    -Rock Slide
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Adamant/Jolly
    EVs: 120 HP/136 Atk/252 SDef (Adamant) or 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe (Jolly)
Item: Assault Vest (Adamant)/Choice Scarf (Jolly)
    Ability: Mold Breaker

    Mandibuzz:
    -Foul Play
    -Roost
    -Taunt/Whirlwind
    -Defog/Toxic/Knock Off
    Nature: Bold/Impish
    EVs: 248 HP/252 Def/8 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Overcoat

    Crobat:
    -Brave Bird
    -Defog
    -Roost
    -Taunt/Toxic
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 168 HP/136 Atk/4 SDef/200 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Infiltrator

    Tentacruel:
    -Scald
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Rapid Spin
    -Toxic/Knock Off
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 252 HP/224 Def/32 Spe
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Liquid Ooze

    Mega Blastoise:
    -Water Pulse/Scald/Hydro Pump
    -Dark Pulse
    -Aura Sphere/Ice Beam
    -Rapid Spin
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 252 HP/252 SAtk/4 SDef
    Item: Blastoisinite

Regarding Steelix, there's just one thing I must ask: why are you using Life Orb + Curse? Life Orb makes Steelix waste away its bulk, and it makes Sturdy pointless. And there are better Steels out there than Steelix, like Ferrothorn and Skarmory. Curse sets need a lot of support and this team just doesn't have it:

    Ferrothorn:
    -Stealth Rock/Spikes
    -Leech Seed
    -Gyro Ball/Thunder Wave
    -Power Whip/Protect
    Nature: Relaxed
    EVs: 252 HP/48 Def/208 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Iron Barbs

    Skarmory:
    -Roost
    -Whirlwind
    -Stealth Rock/Spikes/Brave Bird
    -Defog/Brave Bird
    Nature: Bold/Impish
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef or 252 HP/16 Def/240 SDef
    Item: Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Sturdy

    or
    -Spikes
    -Roost
    -Whirlwind
    -Taunt/Brave Bird
    Nature: Bold/Impish
    EVs: 252 HP/184 Def/72 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
    Ability: Sturdy

I don't think that Sylveon should use RestTalk. To better support the team, it can use Wish and Heal Bell to heal itself and the team (of HP and status, respectively):
    -Wish
    -Protect
    -Hyper Voice
    -Heal Bell/Calm Mind
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 252 HP/244 Def/12 Spe
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Pixilate

Conkeldurr is a much, much, much better user of Assault Vest than Hitmonchan. Sure, it has less Special Defense, but it can take special hits more easily with near-maximum investment in Special Defense + Assault Vest. Hitmonchan's low HP lets it down as an Assault Vest user:
    -Drain Punch
    -Mach Punch
    -Knock Off
    -Ice Punch/Thunder Punch
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 252 Atk/8 Def/248 SDef
    Item: Assault Vest
    Ability: Guts

Rhyperior is better off as fully physically defensive to counter Talonflame more easily:
    -Stealth Rock
    -Earthquake
    -Stone Edge/Rock Blast
    -Ice Punch/Toxic
    Nature: Impish
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Solid Rock

Smeargle should look something like this:
    -Spore/Dark Void
    -Sticky Web
    -Stealth Rock/Magic Coat
    -Taunt/Parting Shot
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 96 HP/120 Def/40 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Focus Sash
    Ability: Own Tempo

  • Why, thank you for the help. I'll be trying out the changes you suggested.

EDIT: I battled someone on Showdown, and only Smeargle and Rhyperior got KO'd. Sylveon and Rocks from the latter finished off the guy's Tauros and Volcarona.
