  • So my friend keeps beating me with his 5/6 IV pokemon because I usually collect shinies, and I even use legendaries and stuff. The rules I need to follow are no Uber's and a double battle. Can you guys help me build a solid team that can perform really well together with pokemon that are all very good? I plan on IV breeding but I need to know my team first.
    Things to think about:
    -items to use
    -movesets
    -pokemon (obviously)
    -natures of pokemon
-different strategies I could go by

If you can give us any idea of what to work with, we'll be glad to help you out. But we can't build your team for you, because then it won't really be your team...

  • Steal ♥♥♥♥ from Smogon RMT's to get a grasp of whats going on to begin with. Doubles is not that hard to begin with tbh, I peaked #54 on the ladder having never played doubles before that day :toast:

Thanks! The movesets help a lot, but I'd still like to know more about how to strategically match some of these movesets where they will compliment each other.

  • Thanks! The movesets help a lot, but I'd still like to know more about how to strategically match some of these movesets where they will compliment each other.

I'll give you a couple examples:
-Scizor pairs well with Latios because they cover each other's weaknesses (Scizor has Fire as its only weakness and resists all of Latios' weaknesses; Latios resists Scizor's Fire weakness). Defog Latios also gets rid of entry hazards so that Choice Band Scizor has an easier time getting in and out of the field, since hazards will wear Scizor down if it keeps coming in and out with U-turn.
-Latios' Defog support also helps Gyarados, since Gyarados is weak to Stealth Rock.

Uh since no one said this before, since this is a doubles battle you need to explore some creative options to like discharge rod or surf drain. There are many techniques people use during doubles battle to take advantage of the format, like use beat up on ur own justified partner to give it a massive attack boost or using discharge to heal or increase attack.even moves that always crit are useful since u can use it on anger point mons.
The landorus thundurus pair is also very effective with eq rock slide and discharge hitting both of ur opponents mons. Doubles is a fun meta, have fun.
