Horror films

Do you like horror films? Which ones have actually scared you?

I'm more into high fantasy, but I will watch horror films, I will watch anything.

The ones that have scared me would be The Last Testament of Rosalind Leigh. My style is more suspenseful and things that go bump in the night, even better if it has some character development, rather than super violent. I like a lot of independent films with unusual, eerie ideas.

Rosalind Leigh is more of your atmospheric haunted house film with strange vistors, it might be slow to some but it just has that unnerving feel underneath. Yellow Wallpaper is another that raises the hairs on my neck for similar reasons. Another haunted house flick I like is called The Abandoned about a woman who was adopted and returned Russia to discover her heritage. Tge closet scene is the one that made me yell. I liked The Witch too. Its overall more of a drama, but the barnyard scene made me bite my nails.

I like the Maid, a film that takes place during the Chinese New Year when the boundaries between worlds are said to be thin and spirits get lost. Ghost stories are always something I am up for. There's a classic Japanese film called Kwaidan based on the collection of tales about the supernatural, folklore and yokai of the same title. Its amazing.

Another foreign classic is Diabolique. If you have seen it then you'll know what I'm talking about when I say bathtub :)
If you like Alfred Hitchcock then you might lime that one.

I only like horror as an element to a story, not as the basis of one.

Like the manga series Berserk; it's full of dark, twisted nightmare fuel, but it's in service of a plot about causality and the human struggle.

I like stuff like that, when it's used as an element. Straight up horror can be intriguing with deeper themes to the horror, but straight up gore porn (Saw) or monster stuff doesn't particularly interest me.
The darker elements of humanity is where the true horror in life resides. I can get into horror like that. Kinda reminds me of Berserk, again.

It's honestly been years since last time I've watched any.

A Quiet Place is honestly the first time I've ever enjoyed a horror film- and I didn't even know it was a horror film before watching.

A Quiet Place is a good film that appeals to non horror fans as well. I liked it. But classics like The Thing are better.

I love horror movies and would like to recommend a few:

The Others (2001) - There are tons of "haunted house" horror movies, but out of all the ones I've seen, I think I enjoyed this one the most. The setting is mysterious and the plot felt very unique and engaging to me.

Trollhunter (2010) - This is my favorite "found footage" movie. It's about some college kids and their encounters with a supposed "Trollhunter". I would say that this leans more towards adventure and fantasy rather than horror. A fun ride from beginning to end. You'll need subtitles unless you speak Norwegian.

What We Do in the Shadows (2014) - This is more comedy than horror, but if you are interested in vampires, then I consider this a must watch. It is about Vampires and their struggles living in the modern day.

A Field in England (2013) - This is a very strange movie, but might be my favorite on this list. It is shot in black and white, and there are only a handful of characters throughout the entire film. It is also filmed entirely outdoors on a grassy field (in England). It is about soldiers looking for buried treasure, but seem to be losing their grasp of reality. If you want to watch something strange and disorienting, I strongly recommend this one. It is in English, but I needed subtitles due to the thick accents and antiquated dialogue (17th century according to IMDB).

I have a soft spot for the Scream series. Trouble is, once you've seen them once, you know who the killers are forever.

I don't tend to watch horror films in general, though I have been tempted to give some a try. I don't remember which ones I was looking at, however.

Mostly I want to see if they'll get some kind of reaction out of me, as I don't tend to scare easily when it comes to media.

Every sunday when I go back to the city where I study, me and my roommates always watch a horror b4 we go to sleep, it just became a tradition haha. One of the scariest I saw was The Woman in black and the Conjuring 2.

I'm not the BIGGEST fan of horror movies, unless they're d-list cringefests like Zombeavers.

I will watch them, though.

A QUIET PLACE WAS SO GOOD, THO. We also just recently watched Gerald's Game on Netflix. It was p great. I also have to agree with the person who mentioned The Others. It's classic.

The Strangers is a horror film that has always stuck with me since I first saw it. It's scary because it's something that could happen to anyone, anywhere. Freaks me out.
