The Future

One thing that developers, analysts, and whoever else has a stake in the industry, absolutely LOVE to do is try and predict the future. The next generation of consoles will be the last! By 2022 games will be digital distributions only! This has been a recurring trend for years, and more often than not the analysts are laughably wrong and things continue as they have been...for reference, see the Nintendo 3DS and the supposed influence of mobile gaming.

So, let's chat about the future. What do YOU think is going to happen to the face of the industry within the next 5 or 10 years? Have you ever seen any theories you could get behind from so-called experts, or is it all nonsense? What is one thing you DON'T want to happen?

There will be attempts to change, there will be backlash, in the end nothing will change.

There will still be people saying that VR is the future of gaming 10 years from now.

I have no idea what will happen in the future.

I'm hoping the ps5 is not the last playstation myself, and I hope physical will still be available for many years to come.

I'm not sure but surely the PS4 series, the XB1 series and the Switch are good enough for many years to come?
