PokemonConquest
(based of the idea of Pokemon Conquest the video game)
Plot:

The hidden region of Wydra in the ancient times was a time of peace, joy, prosperity, and opportunity. Pokémon and humans were in true harmony. But then, people became greedy. They wanted land, riches, and power. This was around the same time where the people of Wydra realized they could use the Pokémon to fight. All this eventually lead up to mass chaos. Empires were formed. Alliances made. People and Pokémon alike were slaughtered. The people of Wydra called this starting time the Greed Period. And these wars were called the Evil Wydra Wars.
Years later, only a few of the empires remain. However, only seven of these empires are strong enough to withstand and fight the other empires. Even so, these are desperate times, and all the empires need more men to join their army.

You:

You are a teenager seeking to find a name for yourself by joining one of the seven most powerful empires. You believe, as you should, that you can change the tide of the war. You also wish to get your first Pokémon, as the empires provide you one to fight with.
But there is something special about you. Something that puts you apart from other soldiers. This is a mysterious power. Whether gotten from an experiment gone wrong (or right) or passed down from family generations. This power can be talking to Pokémon, being able to use Pokémon moves or abilities, or even a power with nothing to do with Pokémon.

Name: Noka Ren

Gender (male or female only): Male

Empire: Psychic

Age (13-19 unless you have a reason to be younger or higher): 18

Special Power: Psychic sense, influence. Noka has a sort of exceptional intuition and sensibility, allowing him to see and hear better and more clearly, smell and taste more distinctly (like catch almost unnoticeable attributes and pick out certain ingredients), and also vaguely influence others' thoughts. (For the influence, imagine that uneasy feeling you get in a dark, damp basement, or that little twinge of warmness you get from seeing an old friend again; Noka can put subtle feelings forward in your thoughts, not control or read your mind)

Appearance (you may post picture, but if not at least 3-4 lines): Average height, 5'10". Lean builld; not muscular, but naturally fit, around 150 lbs. Skin not tan, but not pale, just...average. Dark brown hair, just a shade short of black, worn casually, medium length (just... any anime male hairstyle ever, without the ridiculous spikes.) Green/Grey eyes, with a ring of gold just around the pupil.

*I'm assuming clothing would be more traditional, like in the game
Comfortable, brown cloth pants and a khaki cloth tunic, with brown leather shoulders and brown cloth belt.

Personality (a good 1-2 paragraph minimum): Noka has always been more quiet and reserved. Though he is intense and focused when he needs to be, he is extremely calm and laid back. Very sarcastic, Noka usually has a few quiet comments to contribute in conversation.
Nothing ever really phases Noka. He takes everything in stride and doesn't show much emotion in anything. He enjoys the company of others, and even though he often he listens in conversations much more than he participates, he enjoys being a part of it. When things get serious, Noka becomes focused and intense, carefully observing everything and thinking everything through.

Background (2 paragraph minimum and must include how you got your power and reason to join empire): Noka is an average, unassuming member of the Psychic empire. His parents are shopkeepers and his family is the epitome of middle class. There is absolutely nothing to distinguish Noka from any other random bystander, and that's exactly the way he likes it.
Noka discovered his power early on, when he was only 8 years old. There was no genetic gift passed down through his family, just a random happening that this child was special. Only he and his parents know of his power, as they feared exposing it could get Noka taken away to be exploited by the Empire. Noka and his family had no intention to do anything special, only to live happily.
With the wars raging, Noka decided to join the Psychic empire's army to protect his home. He really doesn't care about defeating the other empires, only defending his own. He isn't looking to become the next great general of war, he just wants to protect his family, and with his abilities, he feels that he can.

Pokemon and move set (4 move max and make them seem legit for just starting out pokemon):
Abra (Lv. 10) - Confusion, Teleport, Confuse Ray, Hypnosis

Name: Ben Aritino
Gender: male
Empire: Omega
Age: 16

Special Power: Able to use the abilities of any pokemon he touches (for about five minutes of use) and speak telepathically with them for as long as he is making physical contact.
Appearance: Ben is tall and thin, but built in a way that he has no fat on his body, only muscle. He's very broad shouldered and has large hands. He has incredible reflexes and makes good use of them with his two cycles. He's kind of pale, but not pasty and weighs around 145 lbs. He has light brown hair and one orange and one green eye. His clothes consist of a grey tunic and dark brown pants. He almost always goes barefoot and therefore has very tough and calloused feet.

Personality: Ben actually goes against some of his countries ideals, although he would never tell anyone. He believes that they should make some sort of attempt to convert others, but if they choose not to join them, then by all means they can be killed. He does believe in friendship (but it's not magic :P) and that it's a fine thing to have as long as you keep your loop to the bare minimum to have some kind of interaction and relationship.
He is somewhat sneaky and a very good strategist, being able to come up with small scale plans on the spot and larger battle plans by looking at a map and how many soldiers are in each area of the battle field.

Background: Ben's power is passed down from his family. One male in each generation has always had the power, and since he was the first born and the only son, he has the power. His family is one of farmers who own a very large plot of land and are one of the more middle/upper class families.
He joined up with the army simply because he was bored of working on his family's farm and wanted to put his power to use. He often used his power just like his father, to help around the farm by seeing how some of the pokemon were feeling (as in diseases and the such) and to help with the physical labor.

Pokemon and move set: Zorua, lv. 15 (Venice); shadow ball (TM), fury swipes, leer, scratch

Name: Roark Turrow

Gender: Male

Empire: The Peace Empire

Age: 15

Special Power: Toark has an incredibly well honed internal compass; it is a rare occasion when he doesn't know exactly where he stands on a map. This makes him an excellent pathfinder, often knowing the exact route to a certain location, and finding short-cuts that most people would never be able to find. Roark has an excellent pair of ears; however, his eyes are somewhat lackluster in comparison. Roark is so good at hearing that he can hear a pin drop and make an estimation of how far away the pin is. Despite his bad eyesight, he has excellent spacial awareness. Roark is very light on his feet, and is good at moving around silently. However, he isn't the most physically imposing person, and lacks significant muscle mass. Unknowingly to most, just like his Zubat companion, Roark can employ echo-location to find his way around, but if his Zubat is around he usually leaves the squeaking up to him.

Appearance: Roark has somewhat long, dark hair that partially obscures his eyes. He will often wear dark tunics that weigh as little as possible so that he can take advantage of his nimbleness. On his right arm there is a red scar from when he had fallen into a cavern as a child. He is also known to wear a grey scarf around his neck which he will pull over his eyes if the situation calls for it. The damage Roark's eye's have taken had shifted their appearance; instead of the colored pupils most people had, Roark's pupils were almost completely white. People were often uneasy about staring into them, so Roark grew his hair out and decided to rely more on his hearing to navigate.

Personality: Roark doesn't feel comfortable in large groups, and prefers to only be with smaller parties. To some others in the Peace Empire he is very odd, almost frightening, but despite his darker appearance he shares in the ideals of the empire as a whole. Roark doesn't speak much to people he doesn't know, and people often have difficulty sparking conversation with him. In combat Roark is a cool and calm person; the only time he really begins to feel nervous is when he feels exposed to the enemy, or when he is surrounded by many people. On the outside he appears to be an anti-social person who would rather work alone, but Roark is really just a very lonely person who doesn't want to admit he enjoys the companionship of his teammates.

Background: As a child Roark was never one to sit still. He enjoyed the thrill of adventure, and would often wander off to explore without his parent's consent. One day, Roark discovered a large rocky pit. Curiosity made Roark lean forward to get a better look, but he lost his footing and fell in, dropping into a terribly dark cavern. The fall dropped Roark into a large pit of pointed stones, cutting up his arm and damaging his eyes. Afraid, Roark sat in the stones and cried for help, but no one was able to hear him.

In his pain and misery, however, Roark could feel something. Gradually, sounds that he normally couldn't hear began to enter his ears. He could hear droplets of water falling from the cave's roof as they struck the ground, and many other sounds that he couldn't pick up before. It felt almost like he gained a sixth sense; every time he heard a sound, it painted the picture of the surrounding cave with clarity that Roark would never be able to sense with his eyes. Roark sat there for quite a well, intently listening to the sounds of the cave and discovering new things as he sat there.

Another thing that Roark could exist in the cave was the existants of Magmamites and other steel type pokemon. The magnetism in the air made Roark feel a bit odd as he sat in the rubble. However, Roark decided that it was time to leave; he hoped his newfound abilities would help him detect an exit as he wandered the cave, literally blind but seeing the world more clearly then ever. As he spent more time exposed to the magnetic waves of this cave, another thing changed. At all times Roark seemed to feel something pointing him in different directions. It must have been something located deep in his mind; but something in his head was pointing him in the proper direction. Combined with his new echo-location abilities, Roark was able to find his way out of the cavern and back home without becoming even more hurt. The odd part was, he seemed to know exactly where home was after leaving the cave, despite not visiting the cave entrance before.

After hearing about what happened to Roark, his parents had never let them out of their site again until he became 15. Roark hated the attention; ever since his experience in the cave, he had the desire to be alone and in silence. Growing tired of his parent's overprotective tendencies, Roark moved out and joined the Peace Empire, hoping to escape the prying eyes of his parents and to start anew.
